Same. I wasn't all that invested in the Halo games, so I didn't immediately hate on it for supposedly breaking canon; although I did see a fair bit of that online.

    I quite enjoyed it.

Started watching Manifest. Pretty darn good so far, nearing the last few episodes of season 1. I wonder if one of the writers/producers liked the "Don't Blink" episode of Dr Who?

    Yellowstone

About four episodes in and am loving it. On a completely unrelated note, I now want to become a cowboy.

I watched through the whole series before and I'm rewatching now. In watching it again, Dan Harmon's fingerprints are very visible and you can see lots of little seeds of ideas that wouldn't produce fruit until Rick and Morty.

It struck me in this current watch that the show is in the style of a Nickelodeon sitcom for kids, but made for adults. Writing jokes comes first and characters will betray themselves slightly in service of a joke meant only for the audience but which is ignored by the other characters.

It's a love letter to genre. Episodes will often homage other films and TV, with all of the tropes on full, loving display. Abed's character really shines. He's a dude on the spectrum. Visibility for autism has really grown in the past fifteen years since the show first aired. It feels very ahead of its time in that regard and the additional knowledge about autism highlights how well Abed's character was written. He's the main character, obviously. It's not Jeff.

Huge recommend. The writing is great. The characters are great. You'll very likely enjoy it.

I'm a big fan of Community, but I remain disappointed that they Britta'd Britta. In the pilot, she's a smart cookie who can beat Winger at his own game; in the show proper, she's... Britta.

100% agree. Although I do enjoy the random, "Me so hungeee" lines from her. She goes from being cute to gross so quickly and it's hilarious.

Pizza, pizza, in my tumgy, me so hungy, me so hungy!

The original cast remains the best line-up, before they started losing them one by one 'cos nobody could stand to work with Chevy Chase.

Ooh, fun little link, there, actually: there's a great biopicdocomedrama thing called A Futile and Stupid Gesture, about Douglas Kenney and the founding of National Lampoon, in which Joel "Jeff Winger" McHale plays Chevy Chase. (It only gets 6.7/10 on IMDb, but I enjoyed it. Maybe I'm just easily pleased, I 'unno.)

Haha. I swear they gave her that line in that episode because they knew she'd have to do it over and over again.
I know that Dan Harmon and Chevy Chase didn't get along. I never heard that everyone else hated Chevy Chase too, but I don't really pay attention to these things so much as I hear it from friends. I sorta figured that they wrote Chevy Chase's character to be hateable because Dan Harmon hated him.

Gangs of London, yay or nay?
Episode 1 series 1 didn't do a good enough job to get me hooked, so worth sticking with or bail early?

Just started rewatching A Touch of Cloth, I'd forgotten half the jokes and realised a few that I probably missed the first couple of times. Re-affirmed to me that this is pretty much a British 'Police Squad' and just as funny.

Absolutely worth seeing it through, some scenes are pretty strong but you'll find yourself saying "just one more episode" before bed....then it's 3am and you have to be up in 4 hours! it can be a bit difficult to follow initially but I recommend sticking with it.

I've just started watching The Last of Us, I never played the game so it's a whole new world of discover for me.

Cool, I'll give it another try after finishing SoA.
My daughter keeps trying to get me to watch The Last of Us, but timings are proving difficult, wife won't watch anything horror or zombie and it runs over an hour so can't be watched on a lunch break

I'm watching it on Sky Comedy.

Also watching this with my Wife and daughter, but we're (meaning me) okay with a little bit of horror. TLoU is generally not htat bad as it focusses on the characters, but there are a few scenes that probably won't suit some people (I'm only part way through season 1).

    This is hilarious!

"The victim is dead, which he's never been reported as before, so it's completely out of character" :hehe:

"We've found a load of old pet shop receipts on the body"
    "Any leads?"
    "No, just some worming tablets"

    Brilliant.
