Not a filum but watched Last One Laughing
    LOL UK/England:
Stacked with hilarious comedians being hilarious, lots of laughter had this side of the screen. A great watch for a lazy evening.
    LOL Ireland:

So not funny, that they had to make up a rule on the fly to get rid of people towards the end. Painful. Utterly painful.

(Yes, I moved this from the movie thread because herp derp)

Finished season 4(?) of Invasion (Apple) and as seems to be the case with everything I watch these days, the ending is utter codshite. Don't waste your time watching the first three. I'll let you know if the next one is any good - might as well watch it now I'm four series in.

Slow Horses (Apple) is good though. Quality humorous bit when Lamb is debriefing River and Coe in the underpass in the latest episode :hehe:.

Peacemaker (Sky) is also not toooo bad.

Really enjoying Slow Horses but yet to see this week's episode.

I was going to get the first Mick Herron book 'Down Cemetery Road' and then saw last week that it's been made into a TV series that is starting this coming week on Apple TV.

We're also enjoying 'The Last Frontier' on Apple and have an episode to catch up too

Almost finished a rewatch of Upstart Crow (BBC), and have started Riot Women (BBC) which I'm enjoying so far, also giving Trigger Point (ITV) a go.

The Witcher: Liam Gets Hamstrung (Netflix)
It's very sad, but watching this, you feel for the guy. He had big shoes to fill, according to almost every fan and yet the writers knowingly thrust this utter pile of cack onto him and expected him to turn it into gold. It's so dull, they even stooped to a "campfire flashback" episode. A whole episode :duh:. I didn't really care too much for the characters by this point anyway, let alone their backstories.

Jaskier has become (more of) a bumbling caricature who telegraphs every single "joke" - the latest I saw was the best yet:

"I am known for my eagle eyes"
    [Trips over a "root"]
    FFS.

The politics of the war are largely overcomplicated and confusing now since everyone is on different sides and fighting each other for no reason that I was attentive enough to follow. They decided wands sell, so there's a fight at Hogwart's thrown in, which unfortunately comes off as a very poor copy. I really do feel for the actors who have to pretend their way through these things - at least with a real(ish) weapon you get some physical feedback you can use, but here they can't even believe in the script. I can't remember a single monster other than in flashback, but then as mentioned above, I have found my attention wandering through lack of engagement.

I'll watch it because I'm already invested via the first three series, but this is really wasting my time.

I've also got The Recruit (Netflix) on the go, about a reluctant CIA chap. I only watch this on the treadmill at the gym, but it's good enough that it's making me want to get my bumbum back down there as have been shirking for the last week and a half and it's showing. A much better watch.

    Righto, quick catch-up.

The Recruit Series 2 (Netflix) 5/10 - indeed crapper than the first one, which was actually not too bad. Suppose you have to watch the second really, if you're going to carry on with it, but do treadmill or background. It's a "hurry up and finish so I can get to something else" series.

The Witcher 4 or whatever the latest is (Netflix) 2/10 is utter wallop. If you're not that fussed, catch it up from Wikipedia or something.

All Her Fault (Sky) 4/10 was okay. Background stuff, got through it in one night whilst clearing out some emails and writing reports. If there's something else to watch, then do that.

    Last Frontier (Apple) 2/10
was so shockingly inconsistent and unbelievable that I gave up on it at episode three or four. He somehow manages to get a "SIM card" from his printer that looks like it runs off mini PCI-E (I might have just invented that socket) and contains everything ever printed. If I'm wrong in thinking that such things are figment-ware then fine, I'll hold my hands up. I also started looking up a helicopter out of interest and stumbled across a Reddit thread where everyone pretty much said it gets worse, so I dun wot the internet said and just sacked it off. I know the bit they were referring to and No, nobody would have walked away from that, so if that's where the next episode is going, I'm done.

(Sh)It: Welcome to Derry(ble) (Sky) 5h/10t (actually it's more like 1 or 0/10, I was trying to be funny. I don't think it works written like that, though)
Fk me. This was so bad they gave it the review in the title themselves. As did another film or series before, but I can't remember what that one was. Anyway, this is appalling. They've butchered this worse than any unsafe circus employee with funny hair and a damp subterranean abode ever could.

You know sometimes when you watch something, see the people involved and think "Eh? Did your team seriously not say something?"?. That's this. It's worse from about episode four onwards, by which time you've taken the bait. Don't watch me wriggle then bite on the same hook - I'll tell you the end in a couple of weeks if you like, but for now, if you've seen the recent two-part film, then you've already seen this, but better. EDIT IN-LINE: I've now seen the end. It's fkg appalling. This is a pocket-filler for King and Skarsgaard, nothing more. Watch the grass grow instead. In the rain. And frost. You'll have a better experience and will be closer to nature. You'll also see more of note. In fact, I dare someone to come up with a worse example of "meant to be good" CGI as well. Using art pens.

    So just don't watch it.

Down Cemetery Road (Apple) - not rated (see below)
This should have kept walking itself to its suggested destination. My cack magnet is clearly still in full effect. The acting isn't terrible as such but AI may as well have written this. Predictable and by the numbers, this doesn't even get a rating and I'll explain why.

I've now come to believe (this week, at least) that rating something kind of implies you'll get to the end and make a recommendation based on what someone similar to you would get out of viewing it. By default this means my ratings would be 7+ to be worth it. But if you can't recommend something because life is finite and you'd rather save someone their time, then a short review is better.

So here you go: this is the sort of thing that you'd come down to find your parents watching on a Sunday evening, with one of them asleep. You'd wonder why they bothered wasting their time, but then reason that it's probably because if they're risking falling asleep anyway, there's no point watching anything of value that they'd miss most of.

In summary, either slap yourself awake, get a coffee and stick something decent on or just get an early night. Alternatively, you could watch this in bed, then you're already there when it's done its job.

Just remember to brush your teeth first.

AJ vs Jake Paul (Netflix) 6/10
Stayed up to watch this beat 'em up because it was free, I was downstairs, my sleep pattern is fkd anyway this week and my mate told me it started at 0100. It didn't. It was more like 0430. I should have gone to bed and got up for it, not stayed up and waited for it. So my sleep pattern is even more all over the shop, annoyingly. Punch-up wasn't bad apart from the slippery silken soles Paul's people appear to have glued to his shoes. Spent more time hugging AJ's leg than trying to knock his block off, but all told, it was not as bad or as fixed as I thought it would be. Fair play to him, I wouldn't be toeing up against a guy like AJ any time soon.

Just finished season 1 of Reacher which was more enjoyable than I expected.

One thing bugged me though. The guy doesn't like to talk and yet hitchhikes everywhere.

If you've ever hitchhiked you know they can often be the most talkative people on earth. Yeah, doesn't add up.

    Wheel of Time

My OH has Amazon at the moment, thought I'd give this another go as there's very little left to watch on it.

Had previously watched a bit of the first episode before and thought what is this dross?

Stuck with it and season 2 has actually improved, quite enjoying it now as there's a bit more gruesomeness in parts.

E: Well, that's annoying. After investing time and working through the uninspiring start I started enjoying season 2 and 3. Far better. Then to find out it was cancelled.

Sick of Amazon and Netflix doing it. There's so little on Amazon Prime as it is I'm glad it's just been a free trial.

Finished stranger things. Ended well I thought. Overall I'd give it 9/10.

I initially thought would have been better just to stop right after 11 "dies", as so many series get the soppy "heavily ever after" **** at the end, and after all the **** they've been through would seem a bit off, but they did a good job I thought. Decent enough time after for people to have readjusted, their stories not ending but just returning to "normality", but a really nice touch was the "is she really dead" bit, and you can take take it either way. Was nice.

Been watching The Blacklist as background procedural American drama thing. Has genuinely kept me second guessing the main plot line, and been wrong on so many occasions. It's not what the characters think is going on, it's not what the overall story says is going on, it's not what your genius deduction has deduced, it's always something else, but always actually plausible and consistent with the show. Good stuff, and James Spader is fantastic in it.

    Starfleet Academy
Absolute dross, after enjoying Discovery and even Strange New Worlds I was looking forward to this, but it seems to be very PC and overly inclusive, even having the characters swear regularly to try add some grit just falls flat on its face.

    Brockmire 8/10
Interesting show recommended by a friend, has the dude that does the voices in the Simpsons, as a baseball commentator, not something i have any remote interest in. Wife was a .... a tad loose, he ended up going off the deep end, drinking problem, and its kinda like his redemption ark but keeping the drinking, drugs and antics. Season 4 turned into something from black mirror. Very interesting, easy to watch and really funny.

    The P.I.T.T 9/10

The wife is a nurse so she watches all the dramas, which have become pretty boring to me, greys anatomy and the likes. This one was different. Season is based on a 1 day shift of an emergency room, with each episode demonstrating the 15 hour shift these people endure, and it is a very very solid show, really accurate for medical stuff (according to the wife), relatable characters, i didn't expect to like this as much as i did, very engaging.

    The Ranch 8/10
Recommended by my sister, hadnt watched it but was aware of it, not gonna lie, its not an amazing show so far in the way of depths, but im enjoying the sitcom side of it, sat with a few whiskeys just letting out a laff every few mins, which is rare for me. so for that it gets a decent rating. Looked it up, can see why it may be a tad controversial of a choice of show now, which is a shame as it has been pretty enjoyable so far.

Isn't that the 'I can't believe it's not ER.... any resemblance to it are purely down to coincidence and it having the same showrunners and half the ER cast' one?
