TV Shows What are you currently watching?

That's fine, I've still to play KCD2, probably Starfield (just because), Stalker 2 and others until then

 

Speaking of which, first time around I never noticed on Drummer's ship the screens had DeWalt emblazoned on them.

Never knew belter tools were made by them

Should have twigged it being her ship name and all

 

Rewatching Reacher season 1 - reminds me how crap the seasons afterwards got.
Also watching the new season of Silo.

Finished The Undeclared War ser 3 the other week, which was ok and undemanding watching.

We both enjoyed Ann Droid, Diane Morgan's acting was something else. Some real and some uncomfortable laughs from it

 

We have been watching that and yes, Diane Morgan's acting is brilliant.

 

As I still have prime I decided to give the 100 another go.

Dragged myself through what seemed like the teen drama of season one to be pleasantly surprised by season two.

Much grittier and darker thankfully. Will see how it goes.

 

We've finished Landman for now , watched both seasons. We're gutted . Loved every minute so far. Roll on season 3!

Series 4 of Reacher, so far so good, to be honest these could stink and I'd still watch them to erase the memory of wee Cruise playing the part

 

I really enjoy watching these Reacher series, my wife and I are watching them together - I think she may have other reasons... and I am also going back through the other 3 seasons as background noise/watching whilst I paint things.

They are good turn your brain off, have an occasional giggle and think "oh you really shouldn't have done that....." shortly followed by "ouch, told you".

I have not watched any of the wee fella's films other than an occasional clip and he seems to have the mannerisms right, but he's just too diminutive, Reacher should be like we see in the series, I really could not see Cruise facing off against Olivier Richters in season 3... (5'7" vs 7'2".....) and having any other outcome that would not be similar to stepping on a bug.

 

I always think that Cruise could do a believable interpretation of a knight errant character like Reacher, but his personality would have been very different; more still and intense; someone you don't really notice until he explodes on you. The problem is that Reacher's physique is a significant part of who how he stands in the world, and therefore who he is and how he approaches it. A smaller man would have a different attitude.

The TV series is good but I've caught the character behaving a couple of times not as I think Reacher actually would have. No big things, but occasionally it jars for me. I don't think he would have been shocked at Paulie decking him in S3. Reacher is aware of his own size and strength, but not cocky about it (which is what fundamentally makes him likeable). He also wouldn't have pushed an upset and slightly drunk congressman John Sampson while he is coming clean in that private conversation in S4 --his professional experience would have taught him to stay quiet, just listen and let the man talk as he unburdens himself. S4 Reacher seems sometimes too emotionally swayed by Lila's doe eyes (which is part of her whole M.O., but still); ironically, I think Cruise's interpretation of the character would have been more circumspect here.

 

British comedy at it best: funny, but also sad and poignant at the same time, and with a dystopian edge. American TV could not have achieved this fine balance.

Some technical details are incorrect however and the writers need to tighten up on that (Androids can't get lost; GPS and compass does not need an internet connection and anyway they can recall and retrace their steps reliably).

Currently on latest Silo (3?) (Apple), which is good, because it's exploring more of the "what happened" side. And I will never tire of just staring at Becks and then trying to remember what she just said.
Also started Fightland (Sky). It's cack. It is set in London, but that's no excuse for it being tired and hackneyed.
