Belgium's finest parody rock band: The Clement Peerens Explosition.
Half the fun is the hilarious lyrics, which most people here unfortunately won't understand (A. because they're in Dutch and B. because they're spoken in a heavy Antwerp dialect) but it's great music too.

This song's been stuck in my head for a week now:

It's called "Drill", half the lyrics is "Where's my drill?!". It's about the main character's brand new drill, and a guy who borrowed it but never gave it back.

Their first hit, "Fat Lu", back in 1994. (I personally prefer a live version with a muddier sound, but I couldn't find a recording with decent sound quality on youtube)

Got back far too late, far too drunk, with a far too early start tomorrow. Had to log on to wind down for a bit though, as you do. I couldn't think of a better song.

Folk rock/metal Discovery time again. I found a few notable, little known bands that are really damn good.

A lot more pirate and sea themed bands about which is nice; these guys are fantastic and I'm not sure why i've not heard of them again. They have a more of classical rock sound, but there's still a folk sound to it with violins and the singer has a nice husky voice that pulls it together: Rumproof

Next, these are an irish themed punk band from Hungary. They're similar to another band called 'Paddy and the Rats' who are also from Hungary. These are the Jolly Jackers.

Last one is a new genre i've been looking at recently: Oriental Metal. This band uses middle eastern instruments and come from Tunisia of all places. They get their inspiration from Tool and Symphony X and you can hear it pretty clearly: Myrath

Truly phenomenal live version of Dream Brother.

Can't believe I hadn't discovered this one before, holy **** it is good.
I'm going to try to not to listen to it too often over the next few days, keep it a bit special.

Fun fact. The 8-track was invented by Bill Lear, creator of the Lear Jet

I've broken with a habit brought about by bad experiences and bought a few CDs this last week, including Massive Attack's 'Collected' CD on a whim the other day, and it arrived yesterday so it's had its first play today.

...and this is why I don't usually buy much music. I knew MA had a good rep, but I only knew Teardrop. Turns out Teardrop is still a great track, but everything else was just so uneventful. I guess if you're in to your chillout or some such genre it might be nice, but to me it was just dull, and very samey.
