I use Easy CD Creator because it's what came with the burner, but I've heard that Nero is better by leaps and bounds. Never used it, though.

I use Nero Ultra Edition. Never had any problems burning anything I needed to. Plus there have been times when I was backing up software ( :worried: ) that Nero would burn some things that EZCD Creator would not. Plus EZCD Creator didn't recognize my previous burner.

You always get one don't you  wtf does linux have to do with burning software other than you can run some on the OS.

Other than the nickname for Easy CD Creator was (maybe still is) Easy Cd cremator. Nero is a good everyday burning package but you will probably use a few packages in the end.

Nero - I tried the latest version not long ago (6) agh its horrible - won't let you burn to the maximum size of the cd and the new graphical menu is really annoying so I went straight back to 5.5

The reason I was looking at Easy CD as an option was that I have used Roxio's Toast on the Mac and found it easy to use and trouble free, it does seem like it may be a different story on the PC from the bit-tech ers comments and reading around elsewhere.

Nero gets my vote. Unless you are doing lots of backups of copyrighted + protected games.... then it can do pretty much everything you need.

Easy to use, and at the same time versatile. If you cant figure out all the complex settings to begin with then use the wizard. The help file is really good and can teach you a lot.

If you want to burn DVDs then really you need version 6 or higher. some of the earlier version 6s would not let you overburn CDs but there are fixes for this easily found with google.

version 6.3 is the best so far IMO. newest ones arent always the best but in this case i think it is.

The only downside with nero 6 ultra is the amount of bloatware that comes with it. I personally hate nero express + never use any of the other little things they bundle with it. but the main program Nero Burning Rom is my weapon of choice.

Nero 6 Ultra and yes it does DVD's. Quite well, infact. There's an addon program called Nero Recode that does some basic DVD authoring duties, but it likes to crash alot on my PC for no apparent reason.

I also use Alcohol 120%. It's an awesome CD-Image creator and burner.

I'd say go with Nero if you're used to Toast. It may sound strange, but Nero always seemed closer to Toast than EasyCD did!

I use Toast on my Mac and Nero & CloneCD on my PC.

Never had any bother with Easy CD Creator 6 and the suite of software it offers is very good. I've used it since an early version 4 so am quite used to it. I tried Nero a couple of times and it seemed alright, though.

Also use Alcohol 120% and other stuff like burnitonce, etc..
