Nero all the way here. I've used Nero since I got my first cd-rw (it came bundled) and I've never burnt a "coaster" with it. Then again, I'm usualy one of those annoying pricks that are extremely careful, and lucky when it comes to computers, so, yeah.

Nero here, used to use Easy CD back with my Iomega 12x burner back in the day, but now that i have my Samsung 52x, it kicks. BTW, i'm sure its not advisable, but i have had no probs copying cds at 52x with Nero even though it was old 12x media?!?!?

I've got a good stack of 48x cd-r's sitting here, and I burn them all the time at my drives full 52x speed, no trouble yet :thumb: Just be extra careful, and allways do a verify on the disk after it's done burning if your going to "overspeed" burn it like that.

Another vote for Nero...used it for years, never left me with a coaster. My experiences with Easy CD Creator have been less than pleasant.

I'm pretty sure Nero Recode does that.

Nero Burning ROM 6.3.0.2 is fantastic. They had a few problems with overburning not working at all earlier on in the 6.x series, but AFAIK those bugs were squashed in the last release.

I used to use Easy CD Creator when it was still produced under the Adaptec name, until someone recommended Nero to me and I've never looked back since. I actually got someone to uninstall DirectCD and Easy CD Creator last night to install Nero instead. I walked her through creating a data CD by MSN voice chat and her holding up her webcam to the screen so I could see what she was doing. She was most happy to not have yet another coaster.

  9. Using both of them I would have to go with Nero. It simplies wirks better. Easy CD Creator I had problems with burning, but Nero has worked flawless for me.

i use dvdxcopy platinum for dvd-dvd backups. essential if you want to do episodic dvds or keep the menu structure in tact. converts dual layer dvds to a 4.7 gb dvd+r no problems. i know it's a bit pricey, but ihad to get a copy before the lawsuit against it went thru .. i should have the right to make a working copy of any movie i buy ... i have a 4 year old, and he doesnt understand "dont touch the shiny part" quite yet.

you can keep the menu structure intact with DVDshrink. you can make exact copies or you can re-author to pick any particular title set out, and crop the credits, remove unwanted soundtracks etc. and its free!

I use a program called BurnatOnce. It's good because it's free, easy to use, does pretty much everything Nero can and everything I want it to etc. (link if anyone is interested)

Here <-- The last bullet point under the General Features section. Looking at my version, it can write data DVD and DVD Video (although i have never used them, just pointing out they exist)

Get a program called DVD Shrink. It's free and very easy to use. Takes about 30-40 mins from putting the original in and taking the copy out.
