I was just wondering if there is any other player that I can use to play .ram files. The reason that I ask is that there are loads of teaching aids that a colleague wishess to use but real.com is locked out on our network.

As far as I know, Real Player is the only player that plays .ram, .rm, etc files. Which is part of the reason why they are such an unholy file:rolleyes:

i've never played it in anything else. Just to point out, a RAM file is just a file that points to an RM file on a server somewhere.

So when you open the RAM file it starts streaming an RM file from somewhere.

Winamp has plugins that will let you play Real Audio formats, however, you need Realplayer installed to use them...

This is an old thread from the Winamp forums that gives a registry hack to allow Real Audio to be played in Winamp without RP being installed, however you need to install Realplayer at some point to get the needed files.

I suppose you could install RP on an outside machine, and copy the needed files across, maybe.

    CAUTION:
1# - This stuff may not work with RealOne, try and get RealPlayer8 Basic (apparently it is still on the real website somewhere).

2# - I've never tried this, don't blame me if it melts your network...
