Going for the Petrol as we don't do that many miles just need the space, all of the internal gadgets of the Mk3 will keep me amused for a while Don't worry I wont grow up for a fair few years yet , It is actually a very nice SUV and you get a lot for your pennies (all 21,000 of them lol)
Imo, don't bother with the 320i, no point. Either get the 330i or if you decide that you need something a little more economical, get the 330d. I know diesel splits opinions, but they make more sense than an underpowered petrol if fuel efficiency is a must imo. How many miles do you do? Could you afford to run an S4? You could afford a lovely B7 model. I'm in love with the S4 Avant, and can't wait till I can afford one. 340bhp V8, 4dw, yet practical in the sense that it has ample amount of space. The only sticking point is the ~21mpg.
It's about 2 miles to work, in the summer i normally walk or bike to keep fit. Fuel economy isn't too much of a problem to be honest.
Test drive the 335d as well, you'll be surprised, pretty sure it is faster than the 330i In fact most things are faster, if you have a fragile ego don't be racing most modern diesels and hot hatches Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Eh? 1500kg and 270bhp puts it smack-bang in the hot hatch market, with much better dynamics thanks to a better layout, straight six noise and boosty fun. Also, 335d is not a supercar baiter. Not even close. Very capable small saloon with plenty of performance, yes, but a properly quick car will decimate it.
You'd be surprised man, I've seen stock 335d pulling 13sec 1/4 mile down at pod Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Official time is 13.8s 1/4 mile... A Ferrari 458 will pull it in 10.8, Audi R8 V10 in 11.5, etc etc. Hell, even a 996 Turbo will do it in sub-12s, and that's a dinosaur compared to the current crop.
Ah the eternal debate over "Diesel vs Petrol" Twin turbo diesel vs tuned N/A Petrol and arguments over the power delivery across the rev range changes the characteristics of the driving experience. Truth is, once a petrol head always a petrol head until the technology passes and all we'll do is hark back to the good old days of how things were better. The real truth is to put major money into brand new and except a 2/3 loss or a classic that will appreciate in value. With 20K I would just by a 2K giggle (has to an epic chassis like an MX-5), 2-3K on a holiday away with a loved one and bank the rest for the future. But that's my opinion.
They will keep pace on the straights, seen it so many times down at brands and Silverstone, it's surprisingly quick with all that torque. It's not a case of being able to pull away like you would expect. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Will do. Think it may be the A4 to be honest. Looking to start a family soon so 4 doors would suit me the best. ( Unless i buy the little lady a runabout too )
