Ok, seen as I got myself in the swing of things with my driving lessons its come to the important bit, choosing the auto mobile. Being a 17 yr old male I want somein that obviously looks pretty good as standard and can have a few modds to make it look the business! oh and be realistic about this, no subaru imprezzas! I was thinkin either a corsa or a clio! The reason I said a corsa was because by the time im 18 il have enough money to cover this and the insurance for it! hehe Burn baby burn! Ure thoughts.................. Top Picture, l33t!
Ever considered a Saxo... yes I know their becoming Ricer cars but you can get them cheap... also can't beat a nice solid Mini.. although youd need a cooper and thap puts you out of insurance... a nice VW Golf?
fiesta cant bet them, good reiable cheap cars im gonna buy one but anytihg i do it it the body is gonna sta farely standard, only gona really work ont yhe install & the engine i dunno why people liked maxed corsa's, there the new nova & the less siad about the nova the better
http://www.prosport.uk.com/catalog/images/products/bodystyling/vauxhall/com2-b.htm wow, they looks good...(never seen them b4 in canada)
the corsa the new nova? man ur taste sucks, the fiesta is a chicks car anyway, lol! u aint gonna do much with a fiesta engine anyway , there very low powered! sorry corsa's rule , if theyre kitted up, but I am considering a saxo but wouldnt the insurance be way to expensive on one of those for a 17 yr old?
I have a Corsal 1.2iLS my 1st car. Good things about Corsa's are they are very cheap to run and insure. Parts aren't hard to find and cheap to replace. If your buying a corsa buy from 1994 (L plate?) onwards. Also watch out for tracking on the steering. Most likely faults are the temp sensors which never work!, and starter motor if it's done at lot of millege normally around the 65,000 mark. Also those maxed corsa's look nasty especially the 2nd one.
the corsa is actually the replacement that vauxhall released for the nova plus you can get a hell of a lot of power for the engine size out of a fiesta, its a small light car my taste sucks huh? does having to fit bulletproof glass in yoru car due to the sheep sound pressure your install can creat sound sucky cos that is the final plan plus kittedn corsas look well pants, theres no point doing it if you dont have the power under the bonnet, if you want a car, 1.4ltr escort, find a decnt one of them
a corsa owner who agrees that they can look pants, thank you if the body work is kept minimal, smooth it off & dont have rediculously stupid arces then it xan look good, but there is no point in maxing a car & adding a hideous amount of wieght if you dotn ahve the power to back it up (bodykits make the car heavier so show it down unless you have the power under the boney to make up for it)
My honest thoughts - that looks a bit of rice-mobile. The Corsa or Clio is a decent car for a learner, cheap to insure, but I really don't see the point in modding what is still at the end of the day a Corsa, rather than anything remotely sporting. I would personally buy a nicer equipped (electric everything, air con, cd player etc) or a newer Corsa rather then buy one then spend more modding it. No amount of sports bodywork and spoilers and bonnet wents will make people think you're corsa is really fast (you need a 2.0 Astra GTE engine conversion to make a Corsa fast which aged 17 is an expensive option), and any mods will cost you loads, especially when you're 17. P.S. - I am not against modded cars, but i wouldn't throw money at what at the end of the day is still a Vauxhall Corsa. When I pass me test I will be driving this, notionally a 'Sporting' but its still slow and a hairdressers car (I hadmit it and don't think anything more of it), but I won't spend on money modding it cos IMHO it ain't worth the expense, and it already has air con and a cd player and so on which I would rather have than a big spoiler on the back. This car will cost me the insurance cost only as well so it beats buying a new car. If you can afford to get a well equipped car and still have money to mod it, then look at a bigger, nicer more comfortable car (a second hand Focus or Astra or something) and don't mod it
yeah and im gonna have a 1.4+ at 17 arnt i? thatl cost me a bomb in insurance! oh and im only pointing to the firts corsa, the rest do look slightly tacky, ur right! and u r right about power but at 17 thats not an issue as its not possible!
that is a nice car will, lad i worked with had one & it is damn quick off the line i will probalby end up with an escort or a fiesta, alwasy liked fords, never had a problem with them (i still miss the cheap rear wheel drive thrills you could have in a sierra, they are fun) the only things im really doing is the car install (bye bye boot) & mabey a bit of a power tweak on the engine to make up for it
Your welcome. To be honest there is no pouint maxing / modding car until 2 years after you past your test. Insurance companies HATE male drivers with less than 2 years on the road driving around in kitted up cars. I have nothing againest modded cars but I'd prefer a prestige or luxery car instead. Hopefully this time next year I'll have a 1.8ltr VW Golf.
ive alwasys prefered the old mk2 golf as it has a smaller engine so its better for insurance, plus it also quicker than the newer golfs as its lighter & does nto have all the eco stuff on it to slwo it down plus you can find a decent 2nd hand one cheap
I do agree with u but if u have the money and have been on the road then I think its worth modding somein like a Saxo, as they can look real nice all kitted up, comeon admit it! however at 17 I do agree id rather have a car like an escort Exhibit 1 than a low powered car dragging a kit around! At our age anyway we would appreciate the interior of such a car, I mean the inside of the escort above is nice, its better than the likes of some nissan or nova interior! Any idea of insurance on one of these? its 1.4 so it could be just over a grand for a 17 yr old and I live in rural devon so that is a bonus, im expecting insurance around, 1 - 1.4 grand for that, am i right?
A modded Corsa 1.2 will still cost a bomb to insure at 17 though - for mods your insurance premium goes up (as modded parts are more expensive for the insurance company to replace in the event of damage than standard ones) and they think if you're gonna stick a bodykit and spoilers all over your car then you're the sort of person who will want to drive fast, and as a result (being 17, unexperienced and all) crash Modded Corsa 1.2 with all that bodykit and wheels like you posted would (to ensure) probably cost you as much as a 1.4 Astra would (and IMHO an Astra/late model Escort is a nicer more comfortable car, yes its expensive but small cars like the Corsa depreciate less quickly so in the second hand market you get more car for your money, and a nicer equipped and roomier one, that still probably costs about the same to ensure as a modded Corsa.
damn I love Sam's Typos!!! Get one of these!!! //me thinks he should stop pimping his car before someone kicks me
whats a RICER? do u mean racer, if u do, then r u trying to tell me u dont get the urge to drive ur car fast? comeon, life in the fast land rulz, its even better if ur in a BMW or a MERC, but hey speed rulz!
