My girlfriend and I usually play "Canasta", or "Casino", mainly because they are the only 2 player games we know other than kids games. When there are more players we play "Hearts," "Up and Down The River," and "Presidents and Bums" and also play "500" at work on breaks and lunch. What games do you play? Anyone care to suggest some games?
Blackjack and texas holdem poker. None of which are really two player. A good two player game is solitaire with a 5 minute time limit. So your both rushing about trying to find cards to use etc.
Pontoon(21 or blackjack) Triumph's 3 of this and 4 of that (probably got another name for it) poker (Texas hold em) switch
Cribbage (you don't really need a board, just keep track of the score and number of games won) War Slapjack Egyptian Ratscrew The last two might be a bit too physical, just to warn you.
rummy is a good one. spit and speed are a couple good ones. i In Speed, he players get 21 cards, the remainder are cards you play off of, 2 stacks are made and one card flipped from each stack in the middle and either player can play off of either stack at any time. 5 of the 21 cards can be held in your hand at a time. you go in counting order up or down from ace to king. you cannot go straight from king to ace or vice versa. if neither player can play, then one card is flipped from each of the two stacks in the middle. when all of your 21 cards are gone, you slap the smaller stack in the middle, the object being to have no cards left after several rounds. this part can get physical as either player can slap the smaller stack when one is out of cards. spit is the same concept but played a little different: Deal 26 to 2 players. both will then deal themselves out like a game of solitare except with only 5 stacks. whats left is the stock, one card from the stock will be flipped from each stock in the middel to start play. you can play from any of your dealt stacks, if you have double cards like 2 jacks, you can stack them to show another card but only one of the 2 stacked jacks at a time. also, you can keep 5 cards showing, so if you play one and only have 4 stacks, take one that you've got showing, move it over to flip another card. once you are out of the cards that you dealt yourself, slap the smallest stack in the middle as again, the object is to have the fewest cards at the end.
At colage i play Sh*t head, blackjack, pocker, jim rumie (is that how its spelt ) Pontune is a good two player some call it blackjack but is the 21 one.
Along with the occasional games of poker (in various flavors), I mainly play Spite and Malice. Very fun, but you need multiple decks of cards to play.
W00t - I can't be beat - I am the king.... Seriously - I will accept any challengers Spades is also good and a good variant can be played 2 player. If you want details on the 2 player version, let me know. Not a card game, but dominoes is also fun. Backgammon is also not a card game but is a classic. (I can't play with my girlfriend anymore - she gets mad because she never wins.) Also - there are millions of great games you can play with dice. (Well, not millions, but like 4 or 5....) Edit: - Also a fantastic game.
texas hold 'em contract rummy pontoon solitair chase the ace theres a few more i know but cant remember the names right now
Cribbage is the best card game in the world. For non-normal games I have Set and Fluxx sitting around.
This game is one of my favourites, i havent played it in ages and i was trying to remember so i could play it with one of my friends at this party. Thanks for reminding how to play it , i couldnt even remember what it was called. Definite recommendation from me¬
After shuffling, the deck is placed faced down between the two players. The player who did NOT shuffle starts first. (We'll call him Albert and we'll call the other player Bob.) Albert picks up the first card in the deck and looks at it. If he likes it, (I usually only keep spades and aces,) he adds it to his hand. If he doesn't like the card, he discards it face down next to the pile and takes the second card. Albert MUST keep the second card if he rejected the first card. If Albert likes the first card and adds it to his hand, he still gets to look at the second card before discarding it. That way, if the second card is the ace of spades he will know that it is not in the deck. After Albert has picked his first card, Bob gets to draw his first card. This continues until each player has 13 cards in their hand. Then, the two players bid and play the hand. Scoring is the same as normal spades.
