Ok well heres my project log http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=81915&page=1 now i dont really like how theres not even close to a mirror finish paint job, so should i just paint it a mirror finish silver, chrome, or just leave it? Also ill have 2 uv ccfls and 2 blue ccfls and blue led fans in the case, so what color would look best inside? white? would blue take away from the lights? o and do i have to sand the inside of the case when i paint? how much would all this cost at say...walmart? How many cans of paint and stuff do i need? 1 or 2 cans of primer enough? 1 or 2 cans of the paint for outside? 1 or 2 cans for paint inside? how much of the paint do i need? and do they sell packs of sand paper? (a bag of different grits and all that?) if so how many packs do i need? how much would all that cost? now do they also sell bondo over at walmart? o and last question, iill have 2 rocker switches. I have 6 5.25 bays and i use 3 for the fan controller, and 2 optical drives, then the other 3 will be used for a ps1 lcd. then i have 2 3.5 bays and 1 for the floppy, and i kinda wanna get another fan controller (for 3.5 bays) so now i have no bays to munt the switch, so where on the case should i mount them? thanx
I would buy at least 2 cans of primer. Thats a big case and my normal sized dragon case used more than 1. How many coats of paint do you plan on using for the outside? You will need probably 2 for each coat. You will also want 2 for the inside, just to be sure. They sell the sandpaper and bondo in the automotive section of WalMart. I can't believe you are running out of bays in that huge case! What do you need the second fan controller for?
ooo ok its in the auto section sand paper is there too? lol 2 cans of paint for each coat! wtf! crazy, id like to put like 5 coats or so, lol i want another fan controller cuz the one i have (pc toys rebranded vantec nexus fan controller, 8 bucks lol) theres a ringing noise when you turn it low, someone told me that they put hot glue over the pcb and it made it more quiet so ill do that but for my back fans whenever i turn the thing down to 7v, one of my fans just stop moving (leds work, but the fan wont move, itll try to move and you can see it shaking but its like theres not enough voltage to get it to completly move, it didnt do it before) maybe its just the fan though (pctoys fans lol) but ya i still have one complete channel on the fan controller but ya i dunno, i dont really NEED the other one but ya i dunno
You sould try and get some really fine grit sand paper (2000 Grit if you can). Then use a rubbing compound (equivalent to about 5000 Grit (I think)). Getting a deep shine is more difficult on lighter surfaces like white or silver. Lots easier on a darker surface like my PSU.. Here's a good guide: http://linear1.org/gm/archives/00000156.php Hope this helps
i got turtle wax Ok so i wanna leave it kinda silver still, jut a bit more shiny, so i just go and sand it, put some primer? sand and whatever, then paint a few coats of some silver and then polish it with turtle wax? for the plastic bezel i can just use krylon fushion and dont have to really put primer on it and stuff?
