Figured out how to stop Encarta crashing in Windows for Workgroups via DOSbox: restart Windows. No, really. If I run Mind Maze from a fresh boot, it'll crash halfway through playing the "correct answer" fanfare, every time. Exit Windows and go back into it again, stable as you like.

    Bizarre!

AIO broke back in October and after faffing with CM support; was advised to send it back to the retailer I bought it from. After TWO AND A HALF MONTHS I finally get a refund (seriously don't ever buy from Techinn even if its the only place that has what you want in). quick trip to amazon with a delivery date of the 23rd.

lands on my doorstep less than 2 days and its in and on.

oh god you've no idea how much I missed a near silent rig, not to mention a damn good looking one again

Haven't had time to talk to support about it, but none of the other switches seem to have died so hopefully I was just unlucky and the rest will be fine!

Yeah it suddenly dawned on me, keeping track of time has been weird since March 2020.

Shipped != delivered. You KNOW they'll be stuck in limbo aka customs for a few weeks.

I have a virtual plumbing appointment on Monday morning.

I need help with my heating system (rad system) and getting a plumber out for anything non-critial isn't really in the spirit of the rules at the moment.

So a local plumbing firm I use is offering virtual sessions, where they walk you through the issue and guide you to fix it. I will have a 1 hour WhatsApp session and get to learn how to fix it myself in the future.

Sounds like a good setup. Do you have to absolve them of any responsibility beforehand?

Can't really do that with our roofer coming tomorrow. But then that's a roof and, well, outside.

Plus I don't fancy sitting on a roof doing a whatsapp call

No, I guess if it all goes tits up then it becomes an emergency and he can be called out.

It’s a really clever idea to still earn during the pandemic.

Oh I agree. Actually in some ways it's preferable if you like picking up some new tricks for the future.

It's always rewarding to do something rather than pay somebody to do it. Paying to learn how to do it feels like you're getting the work done for free...

Kinda. If you know what i mean. I think i know what i mean. :)

Must be some heavy duty caveats and addendums at the start of that WhatsApp call coz, if you fuq up under their instruction, you could blame them for flooding your kitchen.

Five months worth of HRT today. This newly found inner peace is unbelievable.

To be honest, I've been having a bit of trouble processing these new options for emotions. Having my emotional range expand from depression and mania to an almost full human spectrum has made me cry more than few times. For a great reason so all's well.

    Finally.

Completely agree. Teach a man to fish kinda thing. The £40 its going to cost me will likely be repaid plenty of times by putting the skill to reuse.

I get that, I don't know how they get round it. Its just nice to see people innovate so I hope it doesn't come back to bite them.

    Pffft books.

Me dad had me helping him out so I would learn how not to do something and show me exactly what a bodge job looks like. :thumb:

    General rule:
If it ain't working - tap it with a hammer
If it still ain't working - hit it harder with a hammer
If it still doesn't work - tw@t it repeatedly with a hammer
