    Also:-

If it moves & shouldn't - Use gaffer tape
    If it doesn't move & should - Use WD40

I was always taught the first rule of engineering.

If it doesn't fit force it.
If you force it and it breaks
    It needed replacing anyway.

Central heating drained down, radiator removed, new valves fitted. Total time about an hour, spent 5-10 mins on the phone getting some info from the plumber and confirming I was doing it right.

Really successful, I now understand how the system works and how to drain it for removing the other radiators tonight.

Brucie bonus of no charge as didn't really need anything other than a bit of advice.

    Very pleasing morning!

Well done, another arrow in your quiver.:thumb:
Next time, just to spice things up, skip draining the system, and give a pipe freezing kit a try, it's quick and saves having to replace any inhibitor in the system.

I worked for a plumbing firm, for a year or so, about 40 years ago. Used a pipe freezer then, makes repairs much easier and quicker.

That was my first port of call, I got it working with three prior radiators (even brought a kit, which finally arrived) but on this one I just couldn't get a plug to form. Hence the need to drain.

I envy the feeling of 'being a useful bloke' you must have! Nothing like DIY to raise the spirits. Well, if it goes right, anyway.

Totally, the feeling of launching the old rad into the skip was amazing.

Even better when it was joined by its smaller brethren this evening. Some oil filled portable rads to keep us warm till the walls are plastered and painted.

    Well that was frustrating !

I have a Tag Mclaren 60i. You can use it as a power amp. However, when I connected it up as one last week nothing happened. So I went back to the manual and saw this.

Thanks then. About as clear as a dollop of mud. I scoured the internet and couldn't find anything. Called the company I bought my 60p from (they used to be a dealer) and nope, no idea. Phoned Audiolab, no idea. In the end I did what I should have done and popped the lid off.

And gave it a bloody good clean in there with Isoprop. It's now a power amp.

I love it when you open something up and it's just as elegant on the inside.

Nicely thought through system there. Well spotted!

I used to have a Linn Majik-I integrated amp that could be separated in the same way.
Thankfully, Linn did it externally with phono sockets and C shaped jumper rods that were insulated other than the tips.
Much like what you showed, but thicker.

Are you now going to use the preamp or ignore it?

Ignore it for now. The AV32 is the pre amp, so tbh? it will probably remain that way unless I repurpose it for something else and want it back as a integrated.

lol. Just had another scam call. This one was much more fun, and lasted a lot longer. I just "aha" and "mmhmm" through the first wave of script with the first rep. I was expecting her to hang up, but it seems they include Android phones in their scam now.

Stalled the second (bloke) for as long as I could. "Open the Google play and type in quick support". I did. "Vot do you see?" "Erm, I see Team Viewer" "OK click on that". I dragged that out for a bit and then said "Shouldn't I install the behenchod app first?, given I am speaking to a behenchod?"

He said he was my father. And that he slept with my wife. "That's funny that behenchod. My father has been dead for 40 years and I don't have a wife". So I called his mother a (sic) Lunkana (c**k eater) and hung up.
