My FedEx package is out for delivery.

Where do you lose a 45 pound package for three days?

It got here safely. 36x28x12 (inches) and 45 pounds. A whole workstation.

And they left the plastic on the sides.

Still a bit annoyed but it's still awesome for mum.

I bought mum a 10" Fire HD tablet on BF. With a case that was £30. I got it for her early so she could take it into hospital for when she has her op. She has a 7" one, but it's too small really. Any way, it never showed. Amazon were pushing the refund on me but I figured I would ask if they could send a replacement at the price I paid because I could not afford to pay double. They stonewalled me. "Not Amazon's policy" even after explaining. I just didn't have the extra cash so we got a refund. I sent her the money and she said she would wait until Jan sales, hoping to get the same deal. This sucked though, as she goes in Dec 21st for 6 days.

Today she messaged me. It's arrived. Obviously there was no way I was just going to leave it as I'd feel bad, so I checked the site and it said delivered. So I contacted them through chat. Got the expected "Do you want to pay for it or send it back?". Well there's no way I can send it back in any shape or form being I am not there and she is isolating balls now for her op. So I said I would pay for it. "We need to speak to her". So I said "Yeah I kinda figured that, I am not there right now". Then they said "Keep the refund and the items".

Which I know will make her very happy. Indeed. Double prizes.

This isn't the first time I ordered her something on BF and it never showed. Last time they refused to send a replacement too, and the item was nearly 3x as much so basically she went without. Which sucked. She was fine about it, but I was gutted.

The mince pie thread reminded me.

This year I found the holy grail of someone who has to eat gluten free - a perfect pizza

It's a place up here that travels around in a big ol' van with pizza ovens, changing stop offs every week/other week/whatever.

Anyway, they now deliver kits to make at home - honestly they're gorgeous, even the gluten eating OH reckons they're one of the tastiest pizzas she's ever eaten.

So yeah, pizza - awesome. Going to get some in for New Year, pricey but worth it.

    Just wish they made bread.

The Crapman's post in another thread validating my reasoning for having a drawer full of old phones.

I wasn't expecting these headphones to be this good. At all.

Much better that they exceed expectations, than come up short.

TBH like I said, I wasn't expecting much. Through my journey I bought about five sets sub £300. They all had glaring problems. Like, one pair would be superb for reggae and its usual **** recording, but heavy bass, and then would fall flat on voices and instruments (Hifiman planars). This seemed to be a common flaw on all of them. Like, B&O? superb for voices but shallow bass with no depth. That was when I decided to step over £300 and buy the T5P and they are damn near perfect. Because I listen to every sort of music they still don't deliver super deep bass but they are so tight and so accurate I couldn't care. The RS2E are everything else. Best vocals, symbols, snare etc etc. No huge sub bass but the soundstage is unmatched. I suppose this is because they are open back. So I literally figured between those two I would have everything.

So yeah, "yet another" pair of sub £300 cans (well, used price) and I figured they would be weak in certain areas. It turns out they are like a total cross between the Grado and the T5P. And, so far, seem to have no flaws at all. Well, the soundstage is not the same as the Grado but then like I said, nothing is. They are simply the best headphones I have ever heard for soundstage. Bar none. I've literally turned around before looking for the violinist sitting 6ft behind me.

But yeah, way way beyond what I expected. Still using the Graham Slee amp here (which they need, bit harder to drive than the Grado) but will be going on the Dragonfly and a BD A2 clone when I get back.

Then I can look into ordering the parts for my T5P.

Today, I am officially awesome - I found my first grey hair(s). Always wanted them so I can look like the angry old man I was born to be.

I've got all colours under the sun in mine, I'm like a tabby cat.

Grey, white, black, brown and even a bit of red courtesy of my grandad's genes.

Last day of 2021 in the office, working from home for the foreseeable now up to and after Christmas. It’s been an odd ending. My boss has been off for 3 weeks with illness give or take a few days so I’ve played “boss” for the most part and I’ve kind of liked it. In the supportive fashion rather than the boss like. Reassuring people feels good in these odd times.

it’s been nice to keep the ship afloat in his absence and I’ve got more exposure to what it means to be that next level up, stressful but rewarding. Things have been largely ticked off my to-do list and I’m ready for a nice long relaxing break. Planning on too many Proseccos, over eating, Christmas films, impromptu afternoon naps and sugar rushes.

Then come into 2022 refreshed, chunkier and in need of a diet..
