No news yet on whether fly-gate has scuppered my chances on a job with the trains, but got news of another interview today.

In another shinola show from recruiters, got called over a month ago about a job I'd applied for, turned out to be for a company I interviewed for and very nearly got the position about 8 years ago. Was really keen to get in, but after the initial call I had to chase for the job spec and registration forms, then had to repeatedly chase for an update with no response either to emails or voicemail. I'd avoided applying through other agencies who had the job advertised, but after a couple of weeks radio silence I applied again through another recruiter. By then it was too late, they already had 2 candidates at final stage interview, and one was offered the job.

I applied for another job, was through recruiter No1, got a call back and it's that same job, just revamped advert and a shift in salary range. Recruiter advises the job is still available, but they didn't want to see me. Bit miffed, bewildered that despite a chunk more experience that I wouldn't even get a look in. So, I go back to recruiter 2, tell them I've heard the job is still up for grabs, they go away and get confirmation it is. They're hesitant to put me through for it since may have been put forward by another recruiter, but I say I've had no confirmation had been (semi truth), and please please please put me forward for it. She's reluctant but says she'll see.

Today get a call, interview booked for next week. Recruiter No1 probably either not got the jobs b and just CV hunting or just not doing their job very well. Was apprehensive of pushing myself into the frame after the shenanigans, but glad I persisted

Starting to pay off the last of our debt from this month onwards. Everything will be gone by Feb, and then we can start saving towards a house.

    Good god don’t I know it…!

I absolutely ripped through my holiday allowance this year, I had to take so much time off around the time my other half was in hospital… I’ve got one day off left for the rest of the year, I don’t even have enough to take time off around Christmas.

Deciding when to use that last day off is an agonising decision! :hehe:

I am in completely the opposite situation, I have not been able to take holidays as we have been down an engineer for months, I also had to carry a week over to this year because were down an engineer at the end of last holiday year, then I had to train the new one. I have that week off, then in a week, then another one booked, and I still have 4 weeks (plus a half day) to book before the beginning of April... Oh, and the place shuts down between Christmas and New Year so that is already booked before we get our new holiday record sheet for the year.

I am thinking that I might try and get the week before Christmas and a few days after new year which will still leave me with just over 2 weeks to book and nothing in sight for a replacement engineer starting, the vacancy has still not be signed off for advertisement...

    ShopTo

My controller got drift, had a month or two left on warranty.

After a short vid of the problem, a free pickup from my door and a week or two later a replacement is on its way.

Honestly, I know this is how it should work but it's really pleasing that a company actually makes it easy.

The load carrying capacity of the mighty Land Rover. There's about 900kg in the back there and if it wasn't for the fact that you could see less out the windscreen from the comedy tilt you wouldn't really know it was there, it's slow regardless

Sounds like he's headed for solitary for his own protection from what I heard on the radio.

For a few months, about 30 years ago, I owned an Opel Ascona 1.6 Diesel, a very tired one, that had all the accelerative potential of a tired racing snail…

    Land Rovers aren’t that slow!

I’d say so. Majority of the population are Muslims now and he will be a prize for sure.

Just got done reading a book about a guy who shot a policeman and they became friends years later and yeah, he covers it in the book on just how many are in prisons now.

If he spends ten seconds in general pop he would get a boiling oil shower for sure.

The *prison* population? Majority Muslim? Where'd you read that, Stormfront?

The figures are publicly available for the curious. 87 per cent of those currently Pleasuring His Majesty in the England and Wales prison system are British nationals; 12 per cent are foreign nationals; 0.7 per cent "nationality not recorded." Of the foreign nationals, 40 per cent are from EEA Europe, with another 15 per cent from non-EEA Europe.

72 per cent of the prison population is White, with a further five per cent identifying as mixed. Only eight per cent is Asian or Asian British. 12 per cent is Black or Black British.

Now onto the juicy bit: the majority religion of the England and Wales prison population is... <drumroll please> Christian, at 44 per cent! Muslims account for only 18 per cent of the prison population, well below "No Religion" in second place at 31 per cent. The rest of the religions are low-single-digits.

(In Scotland, for completeness: 95 per cent White, 93 per cent Christian.)

    Ain't facts fun?

I told you where I read it. In a book I just read.

Then again it was only two prisons he was in and the majority of them were black. I didn’t mention Asians or any other ethnicity I said Muslims. In fact, he even talked about how many white inmates would convert for the brotherhood and protection it gets them.

Given “Tommy” has such a huge problem with Islam he’s a sitting target, given he has such a deep seated hatred of said religion.

And I proved that was bollocks:
Get better books. Ones maybe not written by a fantasist presenting fiction as fact.

And maybe don't repeat easily-disprovable misinformation. You've access to the same internet as me, it took me literally a minute to find the actual figures.

And don’t assume all Muslims are Asian as that’s racist.

I'm not the one wound up here, bud.
Either show me where I did that or retract your libel. Or have a week off, your choice.
