    Ah ha

Glad it's on track then, I get the impression they've been dragging their heels for people after that time.

Likely. I know a few who have gotten their settled in a month or so, granted they've been living here longer than me so that's a factor

After-market parts are fine, but some things should be installed by a professional.

Got a bit of a project going by building a DIY photo booth for my wedding in under three months, it might well be a terrible idea but rentals cost are topping £550-£599, we just couldn’t justify it—especially since 75% of our guests are fun sponges. Core of the setup will use a 5th gen iPad, the oldest model that supports the app as It’s only for photos (no GIFs, videos, or boomerangs). I also have a vintage wooden telescope tripod that's been lying about for some time which should be sturdy enough :worried: and I’m designing a wooden enclosure to make it look more polished which we can theme with all the other decoration.

I was testing Lumabooth on my phone last week, and while it supports external DSLRs, at the time it only supported Nikon and Canon (boo), I wasn’t sure the iPad’s 2017 front camera would cut it in low light (despite it being my original plan) even with the continuous photo light I have.

As luck would have it, Lumabooth just (On Tuesday!!) added Sony support for camera 2019 onwards. I’m waiting for the iPad to arrive and have ordered the necessary dongle. The Sony a6400, released in early 2019, might be compatible.

If it works, I’ll need to really hone in on the case plan to house both the iPad and camera safely with decent ventiliation. I may also need to swap the wooden tripod for a second-hand PA speaker stand for added stability. Could slightly detract from the look I was hoping but not sure I'd want to take the risk otherwise.

Should still come in at £130ish with a large portion of the cost recoverable should I not want to keep the iPad afterwards.

The washing machine that was refusing to drain, even after checking the pump/filter, that we thought was going to the great scrap heap in the sky. Turns out it was just an errant sock wedging itself further and further into the drain pipe. Working perfectly again once removed! 14yrs and still going strong!

Finally re-built my Homelab / Tinkering machine with a Ryzen 7900 (65w TDP) and Asus Strix B650E-E board. Strix board was on a deal @ £229 which for the feature set and for my use case / plans was perfect. Ability to run 4 x NVME, GPU (8x PCI-E), HBA (Second PCI-E 16x slot (4x Gen 5)) and 10GB NIC (Third PCI-E x16 slot (4x Gen 4)) without any obvious I/O conflicts (at least in theory) was the kicker. Specs are somehow better than the MSI X670E Gaming WiFi I was looking at (more Gen 5 M2 albeit at the cost of dropping the primary PCI-E slot down to 8x, not an issue in any practical sense so meh) and due to the sale was the same price.

Got it all setup with my ARC A750 for now and the venerable Noctua NH-D14 with a single 140mm fan. Due to running in Eco mode (89w sustained in CB R23 with ~4.25Ghz all core) the temps per a balmy .... 49 Degrees.... :hehe::hehe:.

Plan is to start tinkering again with Proxmox and probably TrueNAS scale. Messing around with Windows Server in VM's and likely different Linux flavours as well. Basically, everything I was doing on the Epyc system before it decided it was better off being a shelf piece than, well, working.

Assuming AMD don't manage to **** up another GPU launch (hah!)* I will also hopefully be dropping in either a 9070 or 9070XT to make it a bit more potent in the gaming department.

*Seriously, get it out of the door at around £500 with plenty of stock to properly disrupt the market. Do a HD 4850/4870 again for crying out loud.

Had a meeting with my boss (our CEO) yesterday, he offered me a change within the organisation to straighten out our product strategy/management.

I really need to think hard about this because I'm currently managing 16 people (mainly consultants) on the continents, building structures and an organisation while integrating a company we bought in the US (six out of 16 people in my team). I'm not sure what I want to give up the people management part of my work. Then again, strategical work is what I've wanted to do and I'd work with our CPO, a person I both admire for his intellect and like as a human being.

Another aspect of this is that I currently do not know for certain whether this is a move offered because of my skillset or because there is a feeling I won't take the professional services department where the CEO wants it to be in the future. He very strongly states that he's very happy with what I'm doing but that I'm the best person to fix the issues we see on product ownership/management/strategy. But a lingering doubt is undeniable, he's a great salesman, after all.

Overall, a good problem to have and two weeks to think it over.

"C O F F E E coffee's much stronger than tea. Children should leave it alone for it makes skin and bone. Better by far to drink a cup of tea."
Song introduced in schools by big tea to brainwash the children. I didn't fall for this British propaganda though, COFFEE FOR LIFE!
And I am anything but skin and bone.

I drink both but, much more tea than coffee. If I could only have one or the other, it would be tea. Assam is the best.
