My BMW suddenly started working as it should, started the car one morning and all errors had vanished, car drove as it should, Hybrid working, back to 60mpg as well - no idea how, but I'll take it

Also finally looking at moving out, been bumped up for housing due to ill health (nearly 9 months of staying in the same house with my ex has been painful), start of a new journey?

Downside? got a ton of crap to sell as money needed for my new place, but no where to sell it (no longer use eBay due to HMRC rules, FB market place is full of idiots and scammers, Cragislist? blah blah blah don't have enough posts on this account to get into the Market place :( yet)

More than optamistic about 2025 :)

Nowt to be sniffed at, that. Sadly, this year I've had a 3.36% pay cut - not counting inflation - 'cos the Orange Idiot has tanked the dollar, which is the currency I use for the vast majority of my billing. Sadface.

Not at all, no. In the almost 18 years that I have been with the company, 2% is by far the most common amount that we have had each year. There was a 1% one year, a couple of 4s and last year was a 7, but on the whole 2% has been pretty normal. My current wages are not too far off double what I started this role on back in 2007 so not too bad really.

My current manager has said that he thinks that the two of us in the technical derpartment should be paid more due to the level of technical support that we bring to the UK sales team (which we are currently a part of although we do support worldwide), and I do believe him saying that so we shall see what he comes up with.

Managed to finish the review that's due Monday, so the rest of the weekend's my own!

...I should scan some magazines. But, then again, if I wait for the (second) new scanner, I'll get better results...

The wood for the photo booth has arrived, I had it cut to order (disgraceful, I know, but buying a jigsaw and the wood would have been more expensive). Fortunately, it all fits as I had planned—a miracle really, considering I got the measurements wrong on three separate occasions before finally pulling the trigger on the order.

Next, I need to assemble, prime, and sand everything before deciding on the final paint colour. The front will be framed by an ornate mirror I bought at auction. After removing the mirror and wood backing, I was left with an 8mm x 8mm channel that perfectly fits a 5mm LED strip I have.

Once I add the mirror acrylic panel to the top, it comes together really nicely as if I had put some actual thought into it...

    A pleasant surprise.

On the train to London, then Eurostar to Paris.
We're celebrating a friend's big birthday with a cruise on the Seine.
I feel sorry for the older folk on the boat, (apparently cruising folk are usually well over retirement age) we're a team of 22 50 somethings!
It's a beautiful sunny morning and unusually no hsrdship to get up at 5.45am

Done a few cruises (not river ones mind so I don't know their demographics tbh).

We've never been the youngest on them which I found surprising although there is an obvious skewed age distribution

Wonder if a Seine cruise may have even a better mix though, may attract alot of traveling tourists

E: Not entirely sure what a tourist who doesn't travel is called....

I'll report in on demographics when we're aboard.
I'm not used to champagne at 8.30 in the morning, might as well start the holiday in style!

At least you're early enough to avoid being melted in the sweat lodge that is the glass roofed St Pancras waiting area for Eurostar.
