    Great news.

I hear you though bud. Our issue is finding properties in the area we want to move to that aren't stupid prices.

19 so far we've viewed, we'll reassess at the end of the year.

According to one agent who's shown us around a few October is a pretty quiet month, Boxing Day one of their busiest days.

Think people either get fed up with their house and/or family at Christmas

We’ve finally had confirmation that the solicitor has run the necessary checks, and they should have the results back within 2–3 weeks. We submitted our documentation on the 11th, so it’s taken just over two and a half weeks to reach this stage, which I understand is fairly typical for this part of the process.

What was a little frustrating, though, was finding out through the estate agent that the ID checks had already been completed and that the solicitor had instructed their secretary to request the £400 payment for the searches. By this point, I had already proactively sent two emails asking for the payment details so I could pay the requested money in advance of searches but hadn’t received any response. It was only after a third email — where I mentioned that we were hearing about progress through the estate agent and still hadn’t received the bank details needed to progress — that we finally received a phone call and the information we needed.

It does feel like it would have been quicker and simpler to contact us directly rather than emailing the estate agent and then the secretaries to ask them to email us (which never actually happened). Still, the main thing is that everything is now back on track and moving forward.

So i wrote here on the 19th that i had been made redundant - it came out of the blue and was very unexpected.
Today i've been made an offer and on first thought it was a pay drop but without paying the travel into london it actually works out £215 a month better off.

I needed to find a job by the 31st of this month in order to not eat into any redundancy money. I am a happy man!

Excellent news and good luck with the new job! If I were you I'd be spending a week or two away courtesy of the redundancy funds, start date depending.

Thats great news! Are you able to share anything about the job? Might the benefits include some discount at a certain rainforest-y river-y place?

Avoiding those travel costs will not only cost you less, but it’s going to be a great boost to your mental health! No long-ass exhausting travel after a hard day. No dreading that long and expensive barely moving car park of a motorway on the way in! I would pay good money to have that go away and you don’t even have to, they’re giving you £215 for it every month. You jammy sod!

And after all that, you're also going to have your redundancy pay largely untouched! You are going to be able to set aside 1 months' salary in your bills pot and know all your regular stuff is one month in hand and hopefully have enough left over to do something nice with :D

The rainforest-y type river-y place didn't even reply back!!

But yes there is nothing but good things to come from this - no more £8,000 train fare. No more commuting on a baked bean smelling train each day... and i am better off financially ;)

I pinged you RE the money :D

****ing bezos!! If he can take my 8.99 a month and send all my packages DPD and Royal Mail who both routinely take 2 or 3 days instead of next day, instead of the ****ing Prime van that drives past my bloody door every bloody day, then he can make his lackeys at least give you a reply!

Only a small thing but got Bazzite running dual boot on my desktop (Separate Drive) and have got everything I use day to day up and running. NAS (smb) all connected, OneDrive (via OneDriver which was a bit of a head scratcher to get installed until I chanced across a random Reddit thread confirming I was missing one dependency preventing the package install) and all the games I want to run atm.

Need to do more testing but so far, so good.

Only tested Borderlands 4 so far but it was running within margin of error of Windows.

Now I just need to see if I can find an equivalent to the AMD Command Centre / Control Centre as that is really useful on Windows.

Also got a nice AOC 27" 1440p Mini LED display in the Prime Day Sale period (Scan matching Amazon for price so go it from there) for "only" £240. Reviews very well on TFTCentral and seems to split the gap nicely between a "normal" LED IPS/VA panel and an entry level OLED. Would have preferred the latter of course but set myself a budget and stuck to it. :)

EDIT: Got some of the AMD OC / UV / Power settings working via using LACT available within the Bazzite "Bazaar" (Store). Also forcing FSR4 via a combination of the latest Proton for CatchyOS and Steam command. Appears to be working in Robo Cop as I no longer see a weird snow like effect being caused by the water droplets in puddles (wasn't there with TSR or XeSS and now isn't there with the override for FSR4).

Nice one Dave, MK is an IoW guy IIRC.
Roachford were excellent, loads of energy and got the crowd going well.
Andrew Roachford exuded energy and really gave it some, great voice. No recollection that he played keyboards...
Cuddly Toy extended to 9 min epic, I remember playing it on the uni radio station in 89.

For that 96mph in a 70mph I got 3 points and a £100 fine, I was expecting 6 points and a bigger fine or a visit to court

Or they're out for exercise and/or to scope out houses for what was gifted the previous day, in order to head back round there later and nick a PS5.
