Recovery is going well so far and haven't really had to take the morphine too much. Took some Monday night to help sleep, then Tuesday morning to help get up and about before tablets kicked in, repeated the following night and morn, but not had any since. Yesterday was a bit of a struggle, difficult to get in a comfortable position, was the first day when the swelling had reduced significantly so everything was finding it's place and seems to have settled down now.

I have been napping quite a lot, 2 or 3 times a day, and I'm not usually one for naps. Not sure if it's the morphine, body recovering from trauma, or recovery from the overwhelming stress/worry/anxiety/apprehension/paranoia I had leading up to it. Can not begin to describe the abject fear I had going into this, having had it done previously I knew I was in for a lot of pain, but if it had turned into another hernia scenario and gone wrong I don't know if I could have coped, would likely have got sectioned. Or buried. :worried:

Thankfully not at all the case. From my booking in I was really reassured by everyone and everything, it was all calm, and I felt comfortable enough to let Mrs crap go home and not wait hours for me to actually go in. Has been a relative breeze since, think the hernia shenanigans have reset my pain scale, probably helps that you can isolate and immobilise a shoulder, it not being the fulcrum for pretty much all movement.

It's just a huge relief it seems to have gone ok. Hopefully I can use this as a step up to getting over what happened before. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support. And to @Cookie Monster for still being a dick and maintaining a sense of normalcy.

The reality of having fibre internet.

Download game from Steam, it's 3.5GB.

Installed in less time than it takes to watch a Youtube short. What? The world may be going to hell, but it least we get to live in the future.

    Nice, innit?

Sadly I’ll lose my synchronous connection when I move, because YouFibre isn’t available there. I’ll still have FTTH/FTTP, and it’ll still be fast af, but it’ll be asynchronous instead.

I don’t quite know what I actually need a 2Gbps upload speed for, but I’ll still be sad to see it go.

In the future there will be no downloading of games, it'll all be streamed, enjoy it whilst you can.

Can't even remember the last time I saw a game that small, most seem to be 100Gb.

it is lovely though have fast internet, quite a luxury, course when it goes down, nothing works in the house because most stuff is streamed or connected in someway, even the TV now........nightmare.

It's part of the plan to move us all onto Elon's satellite interweb... for reasons.

I think I have enough i'd replay and a gazillion Epic have stuffed in my library that I think I may very well be dead by the time I'd be forced to do that.

Wonder if ESVI will be out by then?

Unless they can figure out a way to increase the speed of light and get streamed input delay below 1/10th of a second I don't see it. Even under best case condittions I always found Stadia completely unusable.

The game is Starcom: Unknown Space and it's a hoot, I've largely given up on Triple Eh titles as most of them seem to be little more than vectors to spread a shopping or gambling system.

Picked up keys to new house and have started the process of moving everything across. We are in a very fortunate position of still having access to our "old" house (going through conveyancing process) so it is thankfully not so much of a rush.

We had spreadsheets for everything and and overarching plan but it still somehow surprised me that things take as long as they do (context - this is not our first move). Still lots to sort but the critical things (utilities / council etc) is already either done or in process and we have a plan for the rest.

First hurdle also tested last night with putting the Ioniq 5 (slightly wider and basically as long as the Model 3) in the garage. I knew it would fit from a technical "the tape measure says its ok" perspective but its something else actually getting it in there. Just need to be careful of the backdoor (might get it re-hinged to open outwards rather than in to create more space). Also external 3 Pin sockets are in the perfect spot and tested fine with the granny charger so at least that sorts charging until we get one installed (next on the list).

Now just have to deal with the overwhelming thought of where everything should go inside. We had a plan which has changed multiple times and I am trying to stop myself from over thinking everything. Also our rabbit is super grumpy as his normal evening routine has been upset by us moving stuff so that's..... fun...

Still he will love the lawn when he sees it (note - he is a house rabbit but has never seen a lawn as our current back garden was mostly gravel with raised beds). :)

Over the last four and a half days, I’ve been following the progress of the Artemis 2 more or less constantly. I can fire up YouTube and watch live video footage, in extremely high quality, from a spacecraft travelling to the Moon.

I just watched a press conference, where one of the speakers talked about increasing the optical downlink to 100 megabits per second. From a spacecraft 225,401 miles away. I’m parked on my chuff on my sofa, and my phone can’t even reliably get 30Mbps on 5G (though I suspect the latency on my 5G is just a little better…!)

I know we’ve done this before, and it would have been just as incredible 60 years ago as it is now. But it’s such a heart-warmingly stark contrast to… [gestures vaguely]everything

The rebooked flights from yesterday morning to yesterday evening went smoothly.

Must say KLM rebooking via WhatsApp was quick and painless.

No EES either way which was odd but I guess they maybe didn't want any bad PR from potential crowding/missed flights before April 10 full implementation.

Got back late so got another hotel stay at the airport this end and it was a lovely day to drive back today, plus the bonus of getting petrol for under £1.50 which seemed lucky and outrageous at the same time.

Ended up being not so bad so in the end.
