I had a spot of bother getting a rear wheel off our car, after my wife came home with a pothole buggered tyre. My full weight, around 100Kgs, bouncing on the wheel wrench. Got one of these doobries from Wieseman now, extends to I wasn't asking length, 55cms.

Yeah, but you don't use torque wrenches to undo stuff, well not if you want to continue using them as a torque wrench.
Undoing stuff releases much bad ju ju

You’re both still missing a crucial point: this is not a torque wrench that anyone in their right mind should even consider trusting. It’s half a metre long 1/2” drive ratchet - that’s the only part that matters.

If I’m ever doing anything where tightening something to a specific torque actually matters then I’ll buy the right tool for the job - not a chance in hell I’m trusting a cheap Halfrauds Special :thumb:

You should, OK so it's been many a moon, but the last time I had one of theirs calibrated it came back tickety boo.
I'd be more concerned over the accuracy of a mid range one I've got which has sat untouched for that past 3 years.

It's not so practical for working on cars, but I've always favoured the beam-style torque wrench for working on my (pedal) bike.

That's not a torque wrench. THIS is a torque wrench!

If you’re happy to put your trust a cheap torque wrench that’s been sat in a toolbox for probably close to a decade and used maybe a handful of times then you’re more than welcome to it.

A cheap un from a reputable supplier I would use all day every day, and have in the past, and touch wood, nothing has fallen apart on me as I'm travelling the highways and byways of this fair land.

One that's lacked use for so long, yeah I'll pass, and I need to decide myself if I junk mine for the same reason and switch to the German method or buy a new one.
As my days of rebuilding engines is behind me (dear god please let it be behind me) I'll probably just go German

I rarely use one, usually just on the small stuff that's east to overdo, gaskets and the like. Even when I do try to be good the Land Rover manual rarely gives figures so it can't be that important

My Odin 3 handheld finally shipped. Just in time to ride the Rocknix & FEX-enabled Proton hype wave… Just a shame the Snapdragon 8 Elite* doesn’t have mainline Linux drivers…!

*Yes, I’m aware that it’s technically the “Dragonwing Q8” and not the Snapdragon 8 Elite. But the DWQ8 and the SD8E are identical in terms of the CPU & GPU - the only difference is that the DWQ8 doesn’t have the camera processing and cellular radio silicon, neither of which are needed in an Android gaming handheld.
