Starting my new job in November, which means training is closed for two weeks around Christmas. This'll probably be the first (and last, the shifts for the actual job are a bit brutal) time I've had both Christmas and New Years off in 15 years!

I'm gonna be festive as ****.

EDIT: Wait, there's censorship? On our forum? Arsebarns.

George. He was in the army as an explosive ordnance guy and manually cleared a path through a combined personnel and vehicle minefield to be able to get a bunch of wounded guys out.

    Finally a lot happened today.

Don't want to jinx it but hopefully early next week we can exchange contracts on the house and move in in a couple of weeks.

    Fingers crossed.

The English system.is so damned unnecessarily bureaucratic, this has been stressful even though we sold up ages ago, they want to sell and there's no chain whatsoever.

Anyway, hopey hopey mchopeface, fingers crossed, touch wood (lol).

Passed my driving test after 18 years of hiatus. 4 minors, is that good or bad? I was told you're allowed up to 15 but didn't want to try for the high score!

I’d say that’s not bad, congrats

It depends what the minors were, really, and whether you were aware of it at the time (or realised later). The ones to watch out for are when you pick up a fault for doing dumb **** and you didn’t realise you were doing dumb ****.

I had one minor on the motorcycle mod1, zero faults on the motorcycle mod2 (the actual on-road test), and then three minors on the Cat B test. One was for not fully doing observations on a “pull up on the right” manoeuvre, and two were for “undue hesitation”. I got into a really crappy situation on a country lane involving very tight roads, a tipper truck that didn’t look before pulling out of a junction, and an utter twonk behind me trying to drive up inside the exhaust pipe - it threw me off a bit, so I’m not surprised about “undue hesitation”!

Managed to take apart the U1, change its cables, move the filament feeders, and do full calibration and print and not absolutely **** it up. Yay.
    awesome.:hehe::thumb:

How many goes though?! That’s all that REALLY matters. Remember, more times you took it the better you are! :hehe::lol: If I do say so myself.
I passed 9th time. First fail was 1 minor 1 major. I braked without looking in the rear view.
A bus had just swerved out (no indicators).
Each subsequent test was downhill. Until the last one where I went to a different test centre over in Slough :eyebrow: and passed.

I'm surprised they failed you on that, I'd say that classes as an emergency stop! I'm sorry to hear that you had to go to Slough

Passed first time on the practical, fully resigned to the fact that I'd probably have to retake. Failed the theory test twice! Failed the hazard perception test most recently then retook it using the 'three click method' which worked wonders.

First time I failed the theory test 18 years back was by not realising that I had a paper counterpart to my license nor that it was needed to take the test. No refunds, no opportunity to rebook. 18 year old me then stopped learning out of spite

Mrs A and my daughter have days off on a Friday. I've taken a half day off work and we're out on Poole harbour enjoying a late season day on the water in the sunshine.
Feels a real treat, stealing a day from autumn

About two years after watching Better call Saul (awesome, you should watch it), I've only just realised that Chuck is played by the same actor who played Fred in Short Circuit 2 (which is something else you should also see).

    Try the French system... :p:

Interestingly, many Brits who buy in France don't read the information pack and contract because it's all in French (this is not hard; you have weeks to do it and with current translation tools there is no excuse not to). And then get unstuck later when problems arise that they should have been well aware of.

    True.

I just wish the English system just made things clear to sellers of what information is essential.

We're being held up by things they should have sorted out months ago. Actually, their solicitor should have pointed it out at the very start (things we've been banging on about for a long time but the penny has dropped).

    Still, slowly slowly catchy housey.

Fingers crossed otherwise we'll technically be homeless in a few weeks.

    Lol.

All we’re waiting for now is solicitors.
