Do i really get to call myself a scientist then?

My degree involved the same courses, modules and exams as the beng in software engineering offered by my uni, but i was listed for bsc comp sci (you didn't even choose which one you want 'til the end of your second year).

My actual job title is senior technical analyst but i just use technical analyst, because humility.

currently making my life awesome is FRIDAY (both this specific one and the general concept). Also that whenever i see Almightyrastus' sig I start humming immigrant song to myself.

You lot must hate me :p

No degree, my job title is "Technical Engineer" and even I think it's retarded.

I tell people they're thick without using harsh language, and fix broken computers.

I kinda want to do an engineering degree just so I'm not part of the non-engineer 'engineer' group.

    Glad to help ;)

It's just a quote I like, it doesn't cover much of the viking afterlife concept but hey, its' the bit that people know.

Don't hate the player, hate the game... ;)

    True, true.

    Also, this observation:

Sixties Bond films fight scenes. Because of modern film fight scenes, these have become thoroughly believable!

His hair and clothes get messed up and everything!

This year's crop: 46 jars of honey so far (still filing jars!). And all from a single bee hive! :eeek:

    Nice honey. Mmm!

For me, today, playing Sonic 2 on the Mega Drive (I dusted it off and fired it up) and remembering a) how all of the music goes and humming along; and b) where all the secret bits are. Brilliant.

Now, where did I put California Games?

It's pretty good. Not quite as woody and smokey as last year's, which was like a good Greek honey, but yielded only 11 jars because the Summer was so dismal (many beekeepers got no honey at all, and some even lost hives to starvation so I guess we were lucky). That crop was mostly Spring flowers: daffodils, corn flowers, early tree blossom.

This year it was Spring that was a washout, so this honey (57 jars in total) is all Summer flowers: mainly Common Lime trees (not the ones that grow limes, the other one) and Horse Chestnut trees, which are abundant here. The heat wave caused them to blossom like crazy and produce good, sweet nectar. As such the taste is slightly citrussy, very sweet and woody. Less if a dark smoky edge but a good full flavour. The colour is a clear amber with a subtle green cast.

What do you do with it all?

Unless you're going after diabetes, I guess you give it away to family and friends or something?

Some jars go to the neighbours, for putting up with the bees next door. One will go to a family down the Road for being very accommodating in telling us about a swarm in their garden and allowing us to collect it, rather than just getting the exterminators out as some people do (it was a nice big swarm --not ours, btw-- and unusually late in the year, so unless we had collected and hived it, it would have starved to death).

Some will go to family and friends; a few to the honey show competition (all entries are then sold to the public for charity); I plan to make mead with a few more (if you do it right, you get a wonderful, pure tangy spirit with about 20% alcohol content). The rest are for baking and personal consumption. This crop has to last us until next August 2014, after all. :)
