I've adopted Divvy Dolly Dwell Dwell after my mum's cancer scare.



She's really naughty lol. Mind you she's a dear little thing, just a bit of a pleb.

 

Excellent, looks like a proper little monster

 

Yeah she's a sod. Gets into drawers, pulls the strings out of my jogging bottoms.

She's also got a wicked set of teeth on her, being an early gen Bengal. I've been on the receiving end of them a couple of times But she's a dear little thing. Very affectionate. Not sure I can keep her permanently yet as we're set to move soon, but hey, never know

 

A quick nose tap normally stops the biting. Also yawning in her direction will show her you have teeth as well as being a sign of affection. Sounds mad I know but learning 'cat' has helped with ours. Plenty of head bumps, slow blinking at her and yawning and any light aggression we were on the receiving end of started to fade out.

Little nips and bites are often a love bite thing too but she needs reminding that it hurts which is where the nose tap comes in, it will surprise her more than anything.

 

Nah this wasn't a love bite. It drew blood lol. It wasn't deliberate.. I'd just got her and went to rub her tummy. I don't think she realised that tummy rubs feel nice and you don't need to bite haha.

She's a Bengal, so obviously with that comes the wild. I used to have a Bengal girl but she was really spiteful. Shame really, but this is the sort of thing you could expect when it came time to have to pick her up.



Thankfully Dolly is good for being picked up. She will squirm a bit but the claws and teeth stay put. I got rid of Rapunzel in the end because I just didn't ever see her. She used to hide, so I rehomed her with a lady who had the time for her. I've had Bengals since 2001 and I love their nature. Some though are wild and there's nothing you can do about it (see Rapunzel).

 

I thought cats saw belly rubs as an invasion into their privacy.. I always rub behind my cats ears...He frigging loves it..

Bengals love it. Even Rapunzel loved her belly nubs

But yeah, it's not a universal cat thing. Cats usually won't let you near their belly. Now cooking fat? well I rubbed his belly once and he put me in A&E mind you he was the exception to the rule really, given he weighed two stone and was about the same size and stature as a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Far more dangerous than a dog too

Cats are not soulless. When my mother used to go away I used to catsit Dolly and she would just lay on mum's bed pining for her.

 

Cats my ex has several cats, all rescues of one form or another.

I miss Sadie she was adorable and used to love sitting on my lap.

In any case I don't miss the hair everywhere.

Yeah that's Dolly. Loves being either right next to you or on your lap. Or standing on your laptop and shoving her wet nose in your face whilst rumbling because she purrs so loud Nice thing with a Bengal is they have a pelt fur the same as a rabbit, so there's not much of it to be left on you

Rapunzel was a lap cat too but would swipe at you for no reason with a weird look on her face. And her claws were legendary. It was blood every time.

The describe Ruth she was a fighter and hated anyone new in the house. Especially when my ex brought in Tobias. He was quite a large tom cat and only got bigger as time went by. And to think he was younger than the girls.

Then there was Willow the dyslexic cat who would only go to my ex, mostly hated me

 

Some cats prefer males to females (in humans) and vice versa. Rapunzel didn't like women very much tbh. I think it's down to smell. If you have a very timid cat they tend to shy away from men.
