I need to do just for pRon.

Well no Nexus 5, I quite like the LG G2 but Carphone Warehouse dont do fill contract buyouts. Just phone trade in to pay off part of the bill.

College is wonderful. I'm ordering friend's christmas presents tomorrow. LostAlone have released their new single and the album for pre order, and I'm seeing them and The Darkness on Sunday.

I'm feeling pretty happy to say the least.

I make a few editorial image sales a month - £25-50 per shot to various magazines, usually in Europe. Nothing major, it just supplements my (adequate) salary by a few hundred quid, which goes quite a long way in India. Well, for some reason, October and November saw a bit of a sales drought, so I sent some emails to the usual suspects asking if they had any need for my stuff - more out of a desire to stay on the radar than anything else - like I said, the money was just a bonus. No joy, "we've got most of our material sorted, thanks" - fair enough.

Then out of nowhere, I got contacted by a major (>$1bn annual revenue) defence contractor asking to use an image for their 2014 calendar. The offer was about 5x what I make from my usual combined editorial sales on an average month. Sent the pic, got the money, suddenly I'm flush!

My internet is back. Christmas shopping today. And will be sorting out a new phone. But which phone. LG G2 or Nexus 5 w/ Nexus 7.

The Nexus 7 just seems too small to me.

I can heartily recommend the HTC one, the build quality and construction is right at the top of the Android choices (by some margin), the differences between feature sets on the G2, Nexus 5 and One are negligible.

Also the One hits the perfect sweet spot for screen size (imo), and has proper speakers.

But all three are excellent devices well worthy of a purchase. I just think the One is the most practical and well made of the three.

As for the Nexus 7, I only have a 2012 model and it's the perfect device for consuming the internet whilst flaked out on the sofa, plus you can fit it in your dressing gown pocket when you go out for a Sunday morning *** :p

    Hahaha

Don't give me more options. I Like the G2 looks and feels quite nice. I haven't held the Nexus 5 as of yet. And I fell out with HTC ages ago. Then again that was quite an old phone that I used.

I can get a "free" Nexus 7 if I choose to go with one of the deals I have seen. It is the 2013 model too which is a win. I am just unsure if it will suit my overall needs, I use my phone for most things when at home or not, and spend most of my time at my pc anyway.

I think I will have a play with the HTC One today and go from there.

I have the Nexus 5 and its superb tbh, not very flashy though like the HTC One.

That said I think its value really comes into its own when you get it sim free.

I wont be giving it to anyone :p

More like selling it on, I don't know.

Yeah value when it is Sim Free but I dont have that kind of money at the moment. It works out more expensive Hmmm...

Scratch that I cannot afford it Sim free. Gah still can't decide.

Worth noting that if you like bragging about numbers, the Nexus 5 trumps the G2, G2 trumps the S4 and the S4 trumps the One.

The One was just so much nicer feeling than the others when I compared them all side by side, and for me bigger screens are lovely but impractical - 4.7" is still pretty huge compared to iPhones and the like! That said if I'd been buying the handset outright rather than on contract, the Nexus would have been a no-brainer because it's just so much cheaper.

I know what you mean about falling out with HTC in the past, but you can really tell that they put a lot of work in with the One - it's an engineering marvel!

Having looked at reviews the G2 has a better battery life which is what im interested in.

They are so similar I just cant choose.

Im in the shop now just going to have a play.

Deal has changed they had the Nexus 7 2013 model on offer the other day. With Nexus 5, both together no longer available.

Think I will go with the G2. Quite like the feel of it to be honest.

Ok so I can two options one I thought wasn't available.

Buy myself out of contract and start again.

Spoke to retentions with Vodafone, I paid for an early upgrade (traded in my old phone) meant it has cost me nothing.

I got the tariff I wanted and the phone. Gutted the deals had changed as I was swinging towards the Nexus 5 with a free Nexus 7 (2013)

Deal had changed so was a bunch of lesser phones and only the 2012 model.

Instead I got the LG G2 with Unlimited calls/texts and six gigs of data for £34 a month.

Best deal going to be honest.

Phones4u was expensive and much less on data.

I made the switch to EE 4G recently too, I got the Nexus 5 sim free and pay £21 a month for unlimited minutes/texts and 3GB data. Plus I get a cracking signal, far better in my area than Vodafone or O2. I wonder if you can tell at which point I upgraded to 4G :D

Speaking of fast interwebses, I've just been upgraded to something a little more 21st century on the old land-line. From this to this. A slight difference, I'm sure you'll agree.

To be honest, it's the upstream I'm most pleased about: I tend to throw large files around, and waiting for 'em to upload when an editor is breathing down my neck for copy was always hair-raising. Plus, I can now experiment with remote backups as well as on-site stuff.
