Woke up yesterday from a general anesthetic to be greeted by a absolute vision. Stunningly blonde, Irish from Limerick, due to get married in June. Almost worth the surgeons scalpel.

I had the great fortune to be in a similar position after a general knock out a few years back. The recovery nurse was an absolutely beautiful Indian girl who didn't mind my drug induced gibberish one bit.

Maybe the drugs have changed as I thought that in a very short time I managed to find out quite a bit about 'Claire' yesterday with very little gibberish. I was never that good when I was younger.

Why is it that all the keepers are spoken for? That always seems to be the case with me anyway, although I'm still none the wiser about the one I met earlier this week.

Sadly her IT problem is a serious long shot. Data recovery from a MicroSD card is a shot in the dark at best, but I'm going to send it off for assessment either way.

As I mentioned, I'm still no closer to finding out if she's single or not. I swear if this turns out to be another spoken-for stunner that I've met too late I'm going to cry.

Hope you sent her to a good home! What are you aiming for next?

Girlfriend bought me the entirety of Stargate SG-1 on DVD. Looks like that's a fair few evenings sorted out.

Also, took my car into a garage to have the turbo checked on Monday - apparently there is a little bit of play, but nothing too severe - it's been recommended that I get it checked during services, but shouldn't need changing out for a while. That said, I might get it done this year anyway - 140PD engines seems to have a bit of a reputation for eating turbos around the 80k mark...

Beard gone, I like having a beard on a visual level... it just gets too uncomfortable

Maybe 12 hours after a shower its fine but then it gets coarse and irritating, I keep it neat and tidy but eventually I get tired of the discomfort.

It was probably a good month or two of growth so even trimming after a shower felt like pushing a lawnmower through barbed wire.

Reading a job interview for a Product Designer working for Native Instruments in Berlin
    It states at one point

"Please include examples of your work in your application."

This made me smile greatly, it may be small but I have at least one example with two academic awards to it.

I'm almost tempted to make an enquiry to some of these jobs, I don't think any would ever come back interested but there is certainly that part of me that would love that crazy change of pace.

Would be hard to leave home but working in Berlin or LA would be crazy to think about

You're absolutely right, I think even if I did do it and I was lucky and something came back I would be way more inclined to go knowing work was available.

I've managed to source 2 Powerplay Cruiser joysticks, I could never use the Competition Pro sticks. They are to chunky and tend to make my hands hurt, Cruiser on the other hand has a thinner base and and a toggle at the base of the stick which makes it easier to move.

Once I get them I will have 3, main reason for this is all my machines are situated in 2 different rooms in the house. I have my existing Cruiser connected to my Atari ST, trouble with that machine is they put the joystick and mouse ports on the underside of the machine, its REALLY awkward taking it out due to positioning so keep the joystick permanently attached.

Nice! Powerplay Cruisers were good joysticks, although I always preferred the trusty yellow and black Zipstick.

I'm not sure I ever actually used the variable resistance toggle thing on my Cruiser, tbh. I do hope your Cruisers are the minging "pastel" editions :D

Oh yes, the one I have presently is a pastel colored one and the two I am getting are a pastel and a plain black.

Still trying to source the one with blue base, white buttons and red grip, the grip in this one also has the ball on the top rather than the cuboid type design, its the stick I had back in the 80's so is the one I am really after, no doubt one day it will show up for sale somewhere.

I am going to NERG this year and there are a few stalls there so never know might be in luck.

I do have a Competition Pro stick but the fire buttons on it are leaf switches, later versions had micro switches on the fire buttons, I can see a mod coming along here to convert it to the micro switches.

I also have a Logic 3 stick which looks exactly the same as the Comp Pro sticks but it has blue buttons and stick with black base, it is also a lot looser than the Comp Pro sticks and easier to handle.

At least you could "repair" the leaf switches when they failed by bending them back into shape. Lost quite a few joysticks back in the day to microswitch failure, but nothing beats that lovely microswitch click :D

I think I've still got a couple of Zip Sticks lying around somewhere, along with my trusty A1200 (with 68030 accelerator board) and a whole ton of games. Shockingly, most of those games are originals. I really must look them out at some point, although I've no idea how I'll connect the A1200 up to a display as my Philips 8833 monitor has expired and I don't have a video modulator.

You can get D Type scarts for the full range of Amiga computers from Retro Gaming Cables (eBay and their own website, UK based), most TV's still have at least one legacy D Type scart connector, if not they will have the RGB and sound connector (red, yellow & white 3 pin) which you can also get.

Cool, that's good to know. I think I need to source an A500 PSU too, as my A1200's PSU just didn't seem to have enough juice to run the expansion board plus 330MB (WOW!) HD.
