Had an interview today, spent the last week balls to the wall revising.... got in there and the only questions they asked me were why I wanted to leave my current job, and then my salary requirements...... Wow!

New work PC, just the base unit but going from an old Lenovo M58 with a dual core Pentium Dual core with a 32bit build to a HP 800 G1 i3 4130 64 bit build.

Oh my I can do things I could never dream of before, like open more than one excel file!

Feeling pretty good at the moment, everything is going pretty well.

The kids are going back to school, that's at least two days a week without any of them to get anything sorted (like finishing painting the house). I also manage to fix my Dreamcast that was a bit faulty. Even utilised my soldering skills, makes me feel tough, Hah.

I've also got some motivation to draw and write, I might actually get that book finished one day.

Still not getting anywhere with the missus in anyway, which is pretty depressing at the age of 25, but what can you do? My high is outweighing my downer at the moment.

I made strawberry jam yesterday as with my buggered taste buds I really need strong flavours and shop bought stuff can be pretty bland to me.
Did not quite go as planned but I was successful in a limited way and very tasty it is to.

My son's 3DS XL decided to stop reading game cartridges the day before his birthday. I found the receipt - three days before the warranty expired.

Nintendo sent a pre-paid label for me to send it off, repaired it, sent it back and issued another 12 month warranty. Not on the repair, but on the whole console.

    Respect to Nintendo.

I had that once. My exhaust fell off my car 1 week before it's warranty expired. Got a brand new exhaust, and a better one at that from Quik-Fit to replace it.

I received my 8-string guitar just now.
Imported it from a neighbouring country, because the local music stores are RETARDED in their pricing.
I paid 8K less (that's ~550GBP) this way (all taxes were paid) WITH CASE than I would have if I had a local store organise JUST the guitar for me.

Just headed out to meet our own MadDutchDude a 30min drive away and collect a G3285 for my home rig.
Great guy, brilliant to meet a fellow BT denizen in person!

Last night's PC shenanigans would be equally at home in the other thread but since the outcome was a good one (eventually), I'll post it here:

At this point I was running Windows 10 Home, free upgrade edition (upgraded from W7HP).

I decided to over clock the 580 some more, as you do (how many tales of woe start like this? :D).
BF3 hung after a few minutes gameplay ("fair enough", I thought).
I recovered the crash and shut down BF3 (task manager).
I restarted the PC as a precaution.
PC wouldn''t restart, "problem with removable media" ("here we go"!)
    PC wouldn't repair.
    PC wouldn't restore.

At this point I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO on another PC and burned it to disk, and...

... the PC still wouldn't repair (now using the W10 disk).

At this point I'd had enough faffing.

I formatted the system drive (luckily I'd not long upgraded to 10 so already had everything backed up) and installed W10 from my newly created disk.

It was hassle I could've done without but at least I now have the full version (not the upgrade) of W10 on my PC, and everything's working well again. :thumb:

    ...and one for today:

I've no idea what it was, but this afternoon I heard the screech and roar of a (very) fast jet doing very, very fast manouvers amongst the hills & valleys. The mountain range was about 8 miles away from me (as the crow flies) but the sound was deafening. I'm guessing either a RAF Tornado or something Yank, giving it big slices at low level.

Tumour markers are normal and have been for three weeks. Oncologist thinks we're pretty much done. CT scan in six weeks and appointment in November for followup and such.

Fingers crossed, but it's all looking good so far!
