I wonder if it is unscrupulous dealers catering to newby beekeepers. Everybody middle class wants a hive in their garden nowadays, and most are not knowledgeable enough to sign up with a local beekeepers association where they can get a swarm for free.

I get stung maybe once or twice a year. One year however I was dealing with a particularly grumpy (but very productive) hive and just moving them to a new hive box got me stung six times. Through my bee suit. When they are pissed, their stings get through even thick protective clothing. :eeek:

Thats impressive that they can get it through your suit.

Having the odd hobbyist and part time business owner selling honey seems reasonable. But I would find it strange to see beekeeping becoming a middle class trend. It doesn't seem like a very keeping up with the joneses's's type of thing.

It's part of the whole eco-friendly trend. It's great because bees are threatened with extinction so every hive helps, but without research people may not know what they're letting themselves in for.

Finally getting somewhere with the new office, after a back-breaking weekend of flatpack building and equipment relocation.

That's my new desk, shown in standing configuration; when my legs get tired, which I'm sure won't take long, a handle drops it down into sitting mode and I can use my lovely Aeron chair.

The challenge, of course, will be in keeping the desk surface as neat and tidy as it currently is...

    Long story.

Had to leave my MOT to last minute due to work commitments away. Came back this weekend to get the MOT done while visiting family and girlfriend.

I've had the car 5 months and bought it from a trusted vauxhall dealership with a measly 3k miles on the clock (62 reg) since i've ramped it to 10.5k but i didn't expect more than a few minor issues AT WORST! The history of the car was an elderly owner very picky about keeping his car pristine and would go nowhere else but a vauxhall garage for repair or servicing.

It failed outright. The mechanic explained the headlight beam wasn't right, after inspection he told me I had a left hand drive headlight fitted on the passenger side of the my car. the kickback from this light on normal settings would blind oncoming drivings. It had been fitted and adjusted to avoid this issue but was simply illegal regardless, He told me to take it back to the seller if i had warranty.

With a 12 month warranty i took it back to the vauxhall seller, luckily greeted by the chap who sold the car to me! I explained my situation and he led me to the service area promptly to get it sorted.

I was then handed to a bitter old cretin who provided me absolutely no help but severe doubt and constant need to throw a punch. He explained the car would be REVIEWED in 5 days time, this would follow on to a negotiation with the sales and parts team and finally a date to fit the part if everything was in order. Adding on the MOT retest this was working out to be about 5-6 weeks given his estimations and potential additional cost to me!.

With a stress headache and inner frustration i wandered back into the sales area to retrieve my failed documents, I was greeted again by my salesmen who assumed everything was sorted. I discussed my issues with him and explained my MOT was out. He looked shocked and took the situation to his manager, after a good 20 minutes wait he asked for my keys to which i obliged. Shortly after my car was moved from its space, He came in and told me they were looking. I was then told they were sifting through paperwork to find how this part was in my car something was their fault. Within 20 minutes my car was reversed out and he came in dangling the keys and the RIGHT! (You see what i did there?) headlamp had been fitted to my car with no charge or wait.

To top that i called back my local garage and explained after their initial advice and they invited me back for a free retest before they went for their lunch!

Currently searching for some email where i could commend this mans exceptional service!

Good, that's a nice idea. I always try and make the effort to communicate not just what could better, but what was good and should remain so. The establishment benefits and you make people feel nice. win-win

Far classier to send a snail mail to the garage manager, or even the MD of the chain, if it's a franchise. :thumb:

Just had the rather pricey floor coving laid in my kitchen by an absolute master in the art of laying floor coverings. Well worth the cash too have a professional job done. He also laid my bedroom carpet with the same expertise. So kitchen now finished, hall and living room to go.

Battlefield 4. Having played it for the last two evenings, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a game more.

Switching to TalkTalk after 4 years paying hard for fibre broadband with BT. Will be saving more than £20 a month for the same experience (hopefully - lookout for this pasted into the 'What's ruining your life right now?' thread in October when the switch is due to happen...).

For your sake, I seriously hope TalkTalk have cleaned up their act. They were always cheap, but with good reason.

I just upgraded from 4mb ADSL to 40mb fibre with Plusnet. I was very confused when my upload speed shot up, but my download remained exactly the same. Took a few chats with tech support, but they had left the line profile at ADSL speed :duh:

Ha! I really wanted to post a new thread here asking for opinions before I went ahead with the order, but I stopped myself because I thought 'Who wants another ISP thread?', and also, who ever has anything good to say about any ISPs usually?

Surely ISPs have got their act together by now. My BT experience was pretty good, but not £50 per month good.

Ah well, I have 20 days to cancel so if all is not right within 24hrs of switchover perhaps I'll try Plusnet, but the idea is to cut the bills back so TalkTalk gets first opportunity.
