Retail therapy. Got the beginning of my Macbook Pro home-office going – wired Apple keyboard, wireless Trackpad (gen.1 because money), a stand for the MacBook, TV on the wall, Philips stereo speakers hooked up through my Audio-GD DAC/headphone amp. The mouse is my old Steelseries Ikari optical, which is still a great gaming mouse, but the buttons are getting screwy – they register multiple clicks for each press (left click and middle click).

Next up, new gaming mouse (recommendations around the $50-60 mark?) and a Dell U2415.

Getting a new chair for free from GT Omega Racing after the frame snapped in the base of mine.

    Amazing customer service from them.

The weight I've gained isn't just fat and I'm starting to look pretty good. 4 1/2 more months to bulk

Annual bonus. I had a bit of a spending spree...

The rest of the bonus is going towards something I should have done 17 years ago: learning to f---ing drive. Maybe I can actually start driving the car that I'm paying half of the finance for.

Well last year I paid for our bond on the house we're currently renting, the year before that it paid off a huge whack of debt, and in previous years it's paid for festival trips. It was about time I splurged a bit :).

At least I'm doing something sensible with the rest of it!

Driving is great fun, I hope you enjoy learning.

Also the bond on the house? I've only heard one person call it that and she's a middle aged woman from Newcastle.

That has to be a regional thing - bond and deposit are synonymous and used just as often as each other round here :D

I cant think of anything more dull to be honest. But it enables fantastic independence so it's well worth learning.

A bond is a security deposit, held in escrow, when renting a house. When we moved to the south, six years ago, we rented for eight months whilst looking for a place to buy, and the local rental/estate agents called it a bond too. I know it's also used in the states, so it's a pretty universal term.

I have an eight mile drive to work and it's what gets me out of bed in the morning

Of the three places I've rented in Scotland and six in Dorset it has always been a deposit, bond does sound American, probably one of the old English words that we replaced and they kept using.

    And they're so... goddamn... EXPENSIVE.

Bond on this place was originally £775 but they wanted an extra £200 because we have cats. Hopefully going to be our last rented place, we're starting to save for a deposit. (And that won't be cheap either!)

My car is reasonably powerful but last week I spent about 7 hours round trip in the car to make a 15 minute appointment. Between traffic, a car crash and bog standard motorway cruising even tailing a flatbed with strippers on it whilst driving a Ferrari that shoots flames out the back won't make that an interesting day.
