The banana bomb. THE most feared weapon of all. If one of your mates got one of those you knew you were bang in trouble.

Just had a takeaway from a local noodle/wok place that I've never used before and flip my doodah's it was absolutely delicious. It was a rice dish called "nasi", lots of Indonesian spices apparently.

    My god it was good.

Chef Yadda has some learning to do.

this is [probably] what you just ate... Mee Goreng or Bee Hoon Goreng is basically the same, but with noodles.

EDIT: and a recipe to get you started.

    Yes, that's it.

Mine was prawn and pork (and veg) and the flavour was out of this world. Caremalised sweet soy sauce and shrimp paste seem to be key, thanks for that.

Also, be warned... the shrimp paste absolutely ****ing reeks...

Take a look on sites that can get you Dutch food. The Dutch style of 'Chinese' food is heavily Indonesian (like ours is a lot of Cantonese) so they will have packets and bottles of kejap, bami / nasi goreng mixes and so on.

The one thing I really miss* from living in The Netherlands - aside from the fact that on the continent the food is generally just better than it is here - is frikandellen. Alas, they contain horse meat and we Brits tend to be a bit squeamish about that.

*This could be rose-tinted spectacles, since I lived in The Netherlands when I was about 10/11...

Most non-native Dutch folk that I know who have spent time in Holland, either through work or "recreationally", ate just about anything (and everything) that was nearby and tasty. :)
