Well, I have been able to conque some of my fears, speak some unspoken words that need to be spoken, finish some of the unfinished business, still have a ways to go, but heading in that direction "the hardest things to say are the most important" SK

I had an extremely rare experience yesterday, rare but welcome. I actually spoke to a Brit in a major companies customer service department. Oh how I enjoyed being able to understand what they were saying to me and hopefully what I was saying to them.

    Didn't see your reply.
Good eye, they were indeed taken on panoramic camera, a Horizon 202. (Don't have the budget for a Widelux, let alone an XPan. )

EVGA GTX 1080/1070 Hybrid Waterblock Cooler (400-HY-5188-B1) Sold by Amazon US £88.40 is on it's way even though yesterday I was informed there was no stock. Compared to the £125 Scan wanted I am quite happy to wait the few days for delivery.

There will probably be import duty and VAT on that yet.

Nope, there will not as it is an Amazon thing and I have no idea how it works. GeorgeK mention the exact same thing on my thread in Hardware and as the wording on amazon's UK site under their Global Store manner is ambiguous I thought that I would phone to clarify the situation. And I was assured that apart from £7 delivery the price includes all taxes etc.

Thanks, I sold a lot of 202s in the past, with a worryingly high return rate - I don't think QA was high on their priorities :blah:

Wideluxes were lovely, and so much better made, but not without their problems though.

They were made in Japan by Panon Camera Shoko apparently.
One of my colleagues at the camera shop had lived and worked in Japan, and wanted to go back.

He wrote to them, and asked them for a job, but received a fantastic letter of rejection back from them!

We believe they were a very small company with few employees. A lot of low volume products are made using individual sub contractors in Japan, as my boss saw when he visited some. Components and sub assemblies are made in little workshops, sometimes located at the bottom of a residental apartment block.

The wording was pretty much this:

    Dear Mr S,

So sorry, we no have job for spledid man as you.

Maybe I should post a TX-2 (My Xpan 2 is a Fuji 'home market' variant) image for you!

After shifting 4 tonnes of clay soil, and 1.5 tonnes of lumber I've finished my 2m x 11m deck that sits 25cm above the ground I've regraded to sort out some poor drainage.

It's freaking awesome and feels so much better for it than paying someone to come and do it :)

Nicely done! We finished a deck in my garden earlier this year that we did from scractch and it feels so good using it knowing it was all 'us'! Enjoy :)

Looks great. Lumber tho -- we have every kind of tropical f***s-wood-up creature where I live, plus the absolute clusterf**k that is the monsoon. Wood just doesn't last, no matter how it's treated.

BUT. We have finally started getting that faux-wood stuff at reasonable prices in-country, so working on a deck+hot tub plan for the roof now...

I passed my second Architecture Registration Exam! Only 4 to go. I have another next Tuesday. I'm on track to be licensed by the end of the year.

Mounted my Hubsan X4 quadcopter in a new frame the other day, and this evening I have successfully modified the camera board to get simultaneous SD card recording and live video output. Win!

    FPV next! :)

(For reference: this toy-grade quad only officially supports SD card recording out of the box. Some helpful soul mapped the pins on the camera PCB and located a composite output).

    Byron, awesome result :thumb:
    Recorded images/video and FPV.
    Go get dem goggles!

I'm still learning with an Eachine 010 which I find very nervy and unstable - for under £20 you can't really complain.

Is your Hubsan more stable, being a bit larger? I know the Eachine controls are a bit twitchy, but can't decide if I need easier kit or is it my rubbish coordination that's to blame.
My initial gaming name of 'godimcrap' is pretty true all these years later

The Eachine E010 is a bit miniature; my brother has a similar sized nano quad with a similar controller, and I found it extremely difficult to control. Extending the control sticks apparently really helps - literally just glue some longer sticks on: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1748974.

The controller on my Hubsan H107C is a lot easier to use but the quad itself still needs constant adjustments in flight. Like all "toy grade" quads this small, there is absolutely no flight assistance beyond gyro stabilisation. If you want a steady hover then you're going to be making constant little adjustments to keep it steady.

The hexacopter I'm going to be building will be much easier to fly as it'll have GPS and altitude hold. It'll also cost around £350 all-in, vs the ~£60 I've spent on the Hubsan+parts :).
