Another chapter down. I'm not fully happy with it, but considering a chunk of what I'm documenting doesn't quite work right I think I've done the best I can.

One more chapter and three or four appendices and I'm done. 15 days to go. I think I'm going to make it!

Ebay is a mystery. If only I could find a reasonably priced 5D!

So full after toad in the hole, mash and onion gravy. Absolutely not what should be eaten on a scorching hot day, especially given how hot our kitchen gets when the cookers going, but by it was beautiful.

I've just placed an order for an 80mbit fibre line. Woohoo.

Might not sound like much but we've been making do with a 6mbit connection for the past three weeks, because the previous tenants didn't cancel their phone service, which would free up a fibre slot on our fully subscribed cabinet. A 6 meg line with two teenagers in the house is enough to drive you insane.

So replaced the bean cans and wet string with oil drums and wet rope?

 Surviving the 6mbit connection minus the teenagers sounds like torture enough fella ;)

Noticed some knocking at 15-20hz on a newly acquired but second hand subwoofer. Starting to think of all of the ways this could end badly, whether that meant driving back to the seller and forcibly installing it back in his lounge via his front window, or getting shafted having parted with a four figure sum for a dodgy sub, or somewhere in between. Turns out I needn't have fret.

Mailed SVS a video of the issue, they said "hey, you need a replacement driver" and sent one out. A 56lb 18x18x14in package. From the US. On Friday. Here now.

Following a straightforward-technically-but-made-difficult-by-the-fact-everything-is-so-freaking-heavy swap, all fixt!

As an added bonus, I have the old apparently dodgy driver. It's quite pretty. I might place it on the sideboard as a conversation piece. Or possibly "test it" to destruction if I can find something that will actually feed it >1000w at 4ohm. Or perhaps if I can source such an amp, purchase a clapped out hatchback, build and MDF box and install it in the boot. I'm sure the body of the car falling to bits will mask the knocking noise anyway.

It always mazes me that couriers can get suff from the arse end of nowhere, to my door, in ~24 hours... yet it takes royal sodding mail over a week to deliver a letter to an office <30 miles away.

It amazed me decidedly less when curiosity got me and I input the relevant service/parcel detail on the FedEx site to get a quote... $738.
Google informs me that a round trip flight from Cleveland (near where SVS is based) to Stansted (where it came in according to tracking) is £475 round trip, or $630. The remaining $110 isn't far off what a taxi from Stansted to my house would cost. So I think the courier that dropped it off may have just travelled with it on his lap

Splitting up with my Girlfriend and realising how much money I've been spending.

I feel like Scrooge Mcduck now as I'm only paying for myself to eat and sleep...

The custom mixed colour matches the quarters - Which means I can deal with the rust spots on the inner arches and, hopefully, save myself a lot of heartache with really rusty rear arches, rather than just mildly.

Only about 45 mins until I get to go home to these 3 little faces, and that's awesome.

Just found a 1080Ti for a cracking price on eBay but I'm unsure if it's real as the account looks a lil sketchy and the price is too good (360€). Asked for a picture of the card with their name on a bit of paper in front of it before buying
