im in the second year of a MEng at sheffield uni (note: not Hallam). Studying... wait for it.... ... Mechanical Systems Engineering btw ppl, dont ever do that course. far far too complicated
I did four years of physics for my undergrad (MPhys, Oxford), then a Ph.D. in quantum optics/semiconductor physics at Cambridge and I'm currently working as a research scientist on quantum optics. My Ph.D. went pretty well, there'll be an exciting press release next week, we're in next week's Nature and there should be a news ditty on my work in New Scientist (also next week)
^whoa - and I have to follow that?!11 I think I'm in a minority. I studied Cultural and Intellectual History (and French) at Middlesex and did a PGCE in RE at Roehampton.
In winter the Turf was always nice, fire pits to keep you warm and a good ale. Much further afield, the Trout used to be amazing - you walk to Wolvercote over the big medow, past the ruins of a nunnery, to the pub. It's next to the river, has peacocks and lots of other funny things... but it was very commercialised when I went last, so I'm not sure I'd recommend it any more. We used to frequent the Radcliff arms in Jericho (on Jericho street), not the best pub but cheap food and boy do they serve fast! Actually speaking of food the burger place, Peppers, just a little further down Walton street is good. Saving the best until last because I can't remember it's name, there's a pub near the Radcliffe Arms (on Hart Street I think) that'll serve you a pint of pistachio nuts... good beer (was london pride brewery last time I went) and a pint of nuts, what more could you want?
I'm as bad as you, I've a BSc (Hons) in Natural Sciences with Biology and did the first year of a parttime masters in Communicating Science If you need to know anything about Limpets I'm yer man
BS in Electronic Engineering. If I could do it all over then I'd go for Architectual Engineering with possibly a minor in English so I could actually learn how to spell. My degree doesn't really help me any as there isn't a whole lot of electronic equipment in a cemetery.....unless so of you extreme modders out there start wanting your caskets with cold cathode with throbbers installed.
Graphic Design at Kingston Uni... Ran out o' dosh (maxed both overdraft's) in the 2nd year so had to come home I learnt what I needed, just didn't that damn bit of paper I guess im in the thicko group here then
Although not technically a Uni course because it is a BTEC, I am studying Food and Drink Manufactuering Technology @ Lincoln University - Holbeach Campus, and hopefully if I finish the course (might be going in the Army) I will go on to do the HNC in the same subject, then if I am really bored I will do the 6 month top up to HND, then possibly go on to do a Microbiology/Virology Degree. Although we will have to wait and see.
Undergrad was BAIS. that's Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, focus on Asia. I tell people International Relations, easier to understand. From the wonderfully unknown little school Texas State University. Sounds impressive, maybe, but it isn't. Just barely squeeked by to graduate anyway. Currently studying for an MA in International Relations from the International University of Japan. Pretty much second only to Singappore National University for their Asia focused IR program. No hard science for me. Liberal Arts eff tee double-U.
Communication BSc (before you all shout 'OMFG MICKEY MOUSE COURSE IM SO CLEV0R I COULD DO IT WITH MY EYES SHUT IN A WEEK....) It's quite a broad degree but very interesting. Covers all kinds of subjects from PR and event Management to Web design/coding, writing for publications/journalism and everything and anything inbetween I'm loving it.
actualy... it HAS been done there was a child sized casket with a comp modded into it. had a hydraulic half-lid and kbd tray. took third in the competition I think. anyway. All lit up and decked out. the fact that it was in a coffin kinda dulled the mod aspect for me though. even child sized I wouldnt want that on my desk
