NI country roads are probably 10x worse than the majority of roads your beloved gets driven on :( There's a junction that I turn out of and into every day on my way to and from work, and all week it has been covered in soft, melted tar (bitumen) that you could walk through and leave footprints in. About 200 yards up and down the road from that junction on both sides are two black lines where the bitumen has been laid down from vehicle tyres. I have to assume there's quite a lot of sling involved with that sheer amount of soft tar on the tyres of vehicles accelerating up to 60mph. The roads in Tyrone are a disaster

It's a weird shape of a panel with a body line in it  Nothing to be terrified of :p

I've heard nothing but good things about it and everyone who I've spoken to about it tells me it's money well spent. I've been putting it off for a long time, but I can't look at the scratches and scores in the paint any longer. Something has to be done!

So my previous car was a lovely VX220 turbo, capable of a 0-60 of 4.7 seconds, and I only almost crashed several times:

My current car (After I spent several thousand pounds too much on the VX and it kept having bits go wrong) is a much mre reliable yet less efficient golf which happens to have a 3.2 litre V6 engine. Here it is when I used it for a wedding:

Ooooh, a VR6! Surprised they could shove one in there really but I guess they aren't much longer than an I4.

Yup, fits in nice and snug. A lot of people whack a turbo or two in the area to the right of the block where the air intake is. I sadly do not have 10k spare to do so.

How do you like it Qazax? One of my fellow Rallye-owners uses one as a daily, he loves it in winter as a decent-performing hack that can just take him home in comfort, but reckons it's not fast enough to justify the thirst and occasional electrical niggles/servicing expense.

VX220T looks like fun, it's a family of cars (VX and the Elises) that I am desperate to try. One of my neighbours has just bought himself an ES2 190 in red. Much jealousy!

I love it but it is only around 30% as fun to drive as the vx. Every drive I went on in the vx felt like an adventure as cheesy as it sounds. If you are bothered about fuel efficiency then the r32 is not for you. It isn't super quick to 60mph (6 seconds give or take) but as it is over 3 litres it really shines at higher speeds - put your foot down at 100mph and it pulls away which is nice, oh and the sound. My god the sound. Also the dsg my car has makes it possible to drive to a higher standard than I would be able to with a manual. It clips the throttle on downshifts, goes into the next gear instantly as it has two clutches, and red lines the **** out of the engine in sports mode :D

My ideal car is the supercharged Elise, or the exige with the v6 in it.

Krikkit drive an Elise at the next opportunity, it will make you hate power steering and want to own one straight away. It is so extremely similar to driving a super quick go kart on the road it is untrue. I loved every second of the vx and was very sad to see it go.

    Just to correct myself, it's a 160, not a 190.

I already hate power steering and love the Elise - I'm determined not to drive one until I can afford to drop a decent S1 in my garage, otherwise I'll just be tortured!

Unless it is going to be a secondary car I would strongly suggest going for a newer one - the build quality improves dramatically with the newer cars. Also, get one with a fair bit of poet - a 160 would be fun don't get me wrong, but the real fun happens when you give the chassis enough power to shine. I'm talking the Elise r or sc. If you are on more of a budget a vx220 offers 99% of the experience without the same price tag. And the turbo offers stupid power with a fantastic turbo whoosh right behind your head. Damn I miss that car.

Power not poet. Ain't no time to rhyme in a car that's not mine, the speed sign is fine just drink more wine.

    Stupid autocorrect on android.

The S2's are better built, with better engines in the Toyota unit; A VX is much cheaper again, and can come with big power, but the S1 is what my heart wants, and has for about 15 years!

It would be part of a 2 or 3-car rotated fleet - not garage queens, but having spares if off-road maintenance time is needed, and I'm not shy of the spanners.

Ideal colour scheme is either dark blue with tan seats, or a wild-coloured one...

I hope you one day achieve it :) words cannot describe how good it is to own the car you always dreamed of, to look back each time you park it and smile as you walk away, looking forward to the next drive.

    OOOOOH!
Nice cars right there. The VX220, as well as anything that says Lotus on it gives me a little bit of a girl-boner. Too bad that the VX220 never made it to South Africa, and anything Lotus is ridiculously expensive there. And then there's import to pay to get them into Namibia.

The Vee-Dub is a bit lost on me.
I had a Mk.5 GTI for about half a year before selling it. VW just leaves me cold, much like Audi. It's not that there's anything WRONG with them - on the contrary, really - but they just feel a bit soulless. The GTI was fun when giving it 80%+, which is something you hardly ever do.

The V6 adds quite a bit of soul, but compared to a vx/Elise, most cars seem fairly boring to me Lol.

I can imagine the big engine adding some soul.
I also know I am full of it when it comes to cars. I also got bored the moment I sat in my mate's Audi S3, and his 500whp Skyline GTR32 is fast, but ultimately uneventful to drive.

But I hear you on the RWD sports cars. That's why I have a GT86 coming - hopefully this year still. I know it's not on the same level as an Elise, but it's great fun, and a nice place to be...

haha... I am still hoping to finally GET it. I ordered it in December already, and only recently got told that it's being manufactured in August, should be delivered in September...

I did test drive one, though.
And while the cabin commodities are few, the build quality inside is a bit sub-par and space is low, it drives better than anything I have driven to date.

Aha good luck with that! I totally get you in the lack of commodities versus the drivability - the vx had no aircon, manual windows and only a single airbag but it was the most fun car I ever drove.

Both my S1s were better built than my S2.

Since we're talking about future aquisitions, Kikkit, you've got me looking at Galant VR-4's (before anyone says, that is a correct use of an apostrophe), hoping to get one next year when I have the cash to buy it and keep a bit of buffer room in case of any issues.

300bhp - baby Evo territory - and insurable!
