BMW 325Ti 2001
Owned for 5.5 years.
Done all the maintenance myself, changed the entire cooling system, power steering pump etc.
Most recent trip was a 380 mile jaunt to Middlesbrough from Swansea to watch the football. Didn't miss a beat.

I loved my 325Ti - even the headlights didn't bother me after a while. Otherwise I think it was the best of the E46, the hatchback practicality is great. I had an E87 130i after it which had a magnificent engine, but every other aspect of it was a significant step down from the E46.

I drive a beat up 2008 Toyota Aygo (with A/C and electrical windows btw) the blower motor for inside air gave up on me, now I suffer every summer and every winter. I've gone through many minor accidents together and it's the love of my car life. I won't show it here because 1. I can't for the life of me upload the picture link properly, 2. I'm kind of shy and thankful the forum is acting up while uploading the image

So picked up this, it was supposed to be a sensible first car for my daughter, that I could use in the interim......I'm not the best at shopping

I suppose it is only 115bhp, I don't think she'll mind, the missus however......

 

An Up GTi, nice choice. Around the same power as a Mk1 Golf GTi, IIRC.
I had a pair of Up Highs (75hp no turbo) on PCP, before switching to a Renault Zoe EV.

 

Yup it's a decent little motor, surprisingly capacious, easily accommodates 4 adults, drives well too, steering is a bit too light but very chuckable, not sure I'd class it as a GTi, it's so slow but to be fair it feels fast which is probably ideal for a new driver when she eventually owns it, missus kept telling me to slow down as she thought I was flying in it despite not even cracking the speed limit

We had a couple of Highs in our shortlist a 75 and a 90, commanding strong money, plus a 60bhp i10 and a Seat Mii FR Line, the GTi was a bit of a wildcard, it was local and barely any more dough than the Highs, so went and had a look and I wanted it right away, didn't even bother with the rest

Considering what these small cars sold for they didn't depreciate a lot.

Just picked up a Polestar 4, TBH I'm not used to a car being over 2m wide but otherwise it ticks a lot of boxes. For example, 500+hp

 

I have just paid a deposit for a cheeky little program of work on the Raptor, joining the 500hp club and giving it some bite to back up its bark.

 

The 10+ years old Nissan Leaf still going strong. The battery powertrain had been trouble free with zero maintenance, only had to get new tyres and repair the suspension (ball joint, shocks). Since 2023 it had also been doing double duty as home battery via vehicle-2-home.

This is it doing V2H last summer whilst driveway was kept clear for kitchen fitters.


The Skoda Octavia was replaced in 2022 with a Tesla Model Y LR AWD, this is when we were charging at Fort Williams (Scotland, I live in North London) last year during May bank holiday:


We might change the Leaf for a newer version seeing they are so cheap now and give us much bigger home battery, enabling installation of heat pump as vastly cheaper heating option (6p per kWh of gas at 98% heating efficiency vs 7p per kWh of electricity at over 250%+ heating efficiency).

The Tesla is a bit worrisome to own due to American politics. But it is everything I ever wanted out of a car and more. I've been car shopping with my parents, no other car feel as advanced as this car despite it being 2.5 years old. Unlike my previous cars, I no longer lust over newer cars thanks to its OTA updates adding new features. So I'm planning to continue to keep it until beyond economical repair and ride out the negativity, hopefully it blows over after 4 years.

 

BAH! The only upgrade I've ever done is build an mp3 player that plugs into the tape deck. I also removed the seatbelt buzzer and the switch that turns the lights on when you open the doors.
