My pride and joy until an uninsured driver totalled it.

Fantastic, what's the colour? Ready for the build-up now?

Aqua, an old BL colour from '70.
Got a lot of parts to paint/restore/replace before I can start putting it back together, but yep, hopefully make some meaningful progress soon.

Anyone in here driving a newer shape Corsa, looks to be 2020 ish onwards?

I need to replace my 08 Golf and I'm looking at a newish Polo and Corsa. Corsa has more toys, but maybe not the build quality of the Polo (I've not sat in a corsa yet).

2019-on Corsa is the one based on the PSA CMP platform: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Modular_Platform

Good cars but avoid any with a wet-cambelt engine, should be easy to find online which ones are which.

Based on friends' experience of recent VWs I wouldn't put any stock in the Polo being more or less reliable than the Corsa.

Thank you, I'll look into the wet belt. I've only a £500 Fiesta for 6 months when i was learning to drive, then 2 VW Golf's so I'm limited in experience.

OK, Gareth has settled down, time to trigger another rant: Seats.
I have yet to find a modern car with seats that didn't absolutely kill my back. They are all hard as a rock and have that uninflated basketball "adjustable lumbar support" that will give you lordosis. The choice of black leather, or black plastic, and nothing else in my area is stupid too. You could fry an egg on black leather left in the sun. (I'm beginning to suspect I've said this all before here, :worried: Dementia?)
Anyway, a serious design feature they should develop is either a AC vent blowing directly at your nethers, or a seat cooler...for your nethers.
Super-soft flat-backed seats with basic forward/back and tilt will always win. Everyone that has rode in my van has commented on how comfy the seats are.

The ability to secure your vehicle and walk away with it still running is another feature they never should have added. For every EV "saving" the planet, There's 4 empty cars in a Houston grocery store parking lot with the engine running while the owner shops.

Active ventilated seats are a thing on luxury cars :thumb:

My Mondeo had heated and ventilated seats.
I do miss that and the heated windscreen

Bring back the nadger chiller in the steering column!

That's pretty mental, I'm not even sure you could have that feature active over here - it's illegal to leave your vehicle unattended with the engine still running.

Mind you, I always thought it was nuts that you guys don't need to keep holding the lever when you're filling up with fuel. Clicking the pump on and then walking away just seems like you want petrol station "gas station" fires or something

We don't either, you can bypass the lock removal with a small metal pin (e.g. a rivet)

Are you mainly trying German cars by any chance? They all seem to like hard seats, try a Volvo, generally regarded as some of the best seats in cars, you can have them in Wool, plastic (vegan leather) and leather in a number of colours with lots of configurability plus massage, heating and cooling, though I will say the cooling and massage on my Volvo is not as good as in the higher end Kias but it works. You can cool the car before you get in so hot leather no problem :D

My MX5 has vents that cool that lower region mind, because MX5 drivers need to keep their privates chilled :D

Can do it right now from the app, help to heat or cool the car even though I have a big HV battery and electric heating? The electric heater in my car is a HV coolant heater and yup, petrol does a pretty good job of that too I suppose. :)

Our Mini has heated seats as that was a non-negotiable thing for the Mrs, but the problem that I have with them is that you cannot separate the back heating from the base heating and whilst I would love to have some additional heat on my back for dealing with pain and stuff, I really don't to be dealing with swamp-ass as well, so I never use it. Now if we had ventilation and cooling, that would be a whole other matter...

Sounds like you guys should throw caution to the wind and invest in an ultra-barge. Bought this a couple of months ago - heated + cooled seats with selectable zones, and massage. And double glazing. It's a properly magnificent thing to cruise in.

I figger'd it was time to post my currently filthy antique brick since I'm ranting so much. I miss my '74 Dodge since you could slide a 12' board in it straight.
