(unless your rich) A first car needs to be something cheap to insure/repair.

The insurance alone for a first time driver with no no-claims on an A3 is going to be more than most new drivers cars are even worth!

No ofense to you guys but fiats keep getting uglier and uglier.

I miss the old styling of the 131. Those things looked good. And the old alfas were awsome as well. Not to mention lancias.

Sorry just needed to voice my thoughts.

    Back to your sceduled programing.

    Here's my fleet.

    First, my every day car:
1982 Golf GTI, with a turbocharged engine. 204hp / 246lbft. It only weighs 866kg, so it goes pretty well.

    and my weekend toy:
1972 mini 1000, fitted with a metro turbo engine with a few tweeks (aiming for 160bhp once it's all run in), roll cage, one seat.. my trackday toy.

160bhp! That'll certainly be a beast when you get it finished. Have you taken it for an MOT and it failed or have you SORN'd it and are just waiting until you think it's ready?

It failed a couple of weeks ago, and i'm just waiting for my mate who's a bit handy with a welder to fix up the hole in the floor pan which it failed on :)

I got a compressor for xmas from my fiancee, so i'll be giving it a lick of paint soon too so it might look a bit nicer.. haha!

Just one thing ! if its a metro engine the BIG end needs reinforcing otherwise it will blow to bits.

Yep, it's all been worked on. It's got custom pistons, rods, crank and cam, along with a ported and polished big valve head.

I'm more worried about the gearbox..
