Coolest thing in that picture is the Sigg. Needs a bit more beating up though.

Not to be nosy but what are you studying that still teaches discrete logic gates? Almost a lost art in the US - like vacuum tubes(valves).

I tried to explain them in another thread and people thought I was from Pluto.
In 1981 I met Seymour Cray and toured his facility when he was trying to recruit me to go to work for him and Cray Computers.

We were taught that stuff in Computer Engineering class in High School here John. I hated it at the time... but now that I'm a much bigger geek I'm happy to have picked it up.

Next time you guys are sitting in the left turn lane at a stop light think about how the lights decide who goes when.

IF turn lane occupied AND go straight lane is occupied, turn on all lights.

IF turn lane is occupied AND opposing traffic turn lane is occupied - turn on only the turn lanes.

The old school way. Boolean Logic. IF, AND, OR, NOR, NAND. Fun stuff.

We were taught them in secondary school, must've been year 8/9 mainly, but I do remember them from Primary school as well whenever I got bored.

Same here. Digital logic is a part of the required computer architecture course for a CS major.
