Hey Guys! I just noticed this new LG monitor (21.5" LG E2290V-SN LCD), on scan and it looks really promising in terms of the quality on offer but there doesn't seem to be much written about it although what is seems very positive. I was wondering if you fellas knew anything about it? My intentions for the machine it will be used with is for gaming. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/215-lg-e2290v-sn-lcd-1920x1080-5ms-black Thanks!
This time... I'll quote someone: Siwini tried a recent ASUS monitor powered by an IPS panel, which is a near replica of the Dell U2410, in every way, except looks, and that it has a "ruler feature (gimmick). It's sold at the same price point as the Dell U2410. He went for the ASUS one as it was a bit cheaper, and well was the first one to try it on this forum. Unless you are casually using your computer, or on a stick budget and have no monitor (or it's a laptop), TN panels is fine. But for any big computer users, who uses our computer for many thing including entertainment. Getting a descent monitor, such as one powered by an IPS panel, and preferable with a high grade CFL lamp instead of LED (unless it's RGB LED, but I doubt you have the money to afford this, so is 99.99% of people on this forum), for stunning true whites. There are a series of really interesting IPS monitor (best for your money - no order): > Dell U2410 > Dell U2711 > Dell U2311H > Dell 2209WA > Dell U2211H > ASUS PA246Q > HP LP2475W > HP ZR24W > LG IPS231P Please check out THIS FORUM, for all the models mentioned, and read my thread on IPS and PVA panels, and why TN panels should be dump. No one here was disappointed with their purchase of an IPS panel, every one was amazed. The best TN panel is FAR on the back from an entry level IPS panels, there is simply no comparison. TN panels should not be in your list... but rather in your black list.
Which forum? By the way, there's also a Viewsonic 23" monitor with IPS panel at the £200 mark - 23" Viewsonic VP2365wb.
Don't sweat it! It can happen to the best... Like me. I forgot the U2211H. Smallest pixel pitch of the lot.
And you forgot this little fella, not amazing, but great for the price http://www.ebuyer.com/product/261362
The strange thing I've noticed about the LG ips is that many of them seem to be in the same price points as their tn variants. You can compare 2 monitors, both 22", 1920x1080, 60hz, same exterior and stand, same connection choices. Both $170. So you're like what is the difference? Oh, the nicer looking one is ips. Some of the ips ones are even cheaper than tn ones.
It's not a link. It's to indicated that this is the forum to check for for all your monitor needs, as they are several of us, who really know what they are talking about. Correct. Doesn't mean it says "IPS" or "PVA" that it's better than TN panels. But these, right now, lucky for us, are very few, and usually not known, unless you dig them up. Always read several reviews from good sources, and get people feedback, all by checking dates. Monitors pass through several revision and improvements, even, like in the case of Dell U2311H and U2410 back in early 2009 when they were released, had the panel manufacture (LG in this case) has sever production problem, producing panels with strange issues, like sever back light bleeding, tint color, and many other issues. This has been all solved since end of 2009. But the general rule is that an IPS panel (except for select models), are far superior than TN panels, even against the best TN panels. Of course, this is all understanding that you always get what you paid for.
Unbeknowst to you there actually is both a U2311H *and* a U2211H... Anyway, I'm just messing with you. There's no need to include *every* (affordable) IPS monitor out there. Otherwise the list would be a bit longer.
