Just got a zalman nb32j (the gold coloured) northbridge cooler to passively cool my northbridge.

What do people recommend to clean the original gunk that was used when Abit stuck their original hs/fan combo there.

I plan to use Arctic Silver 3 instead of the supplied thermal grease with it.

Im thinking I'd use acetone or isopropyl alcohol to clean it (probably some iso. alcohol on the zalman too, to get rid of any dust/fingerprints on it)

    Is this right?

    Thanks

Unfortunately that seems to be US only.

However after searching for goo be gone on google and after seeing a nice website about 'snowballing' found another link which suggests using acetone (nail varnish remover - watch me steal the missus')

Ta Haddy - led me in the right direction

ya, u could use that, id just be careful cuz i dunno if those chemicals leave behind a residue that would counterreact with the ASIII or the silicon chip itself
unless u use something like rubbing alcohol afterwards that fully evaporates :S
