I am going to build a free image host and was wondering what you would want from one. List everything you want, specifically things you want that aren't already available, or available for free.
Hosting for images at least 1280*1024 without resizing, dumbing down the quality. Also a title scrambler so people cannot guess your images.
I think he was meaning like the have at imageshack. All you do is put the picture up and link to it. It's there forever, no removal, no changing, no resizing etc.
Not having some sketchy line in the terms of services about the hosting service owning all of your material and can profit from it however they want and can sue you when you try because you give up your rights to it when uploading. Plus what everyone else said.
I was thinking something more like Imageshack (as that doesn't work for me), but for albums and such we all have Flickr which is honestly probably going to be better then what's created here.
Already know a free file hosting site like that, no baud limits, 5mb file size limit, no file resizing, just runs from Googles Adsense (text based ads).
automatic neural network analysis of images to index, catalog and sort teh boobie pics. for teh publixsss.
Well, I plan to have a lot of what y'all have said: Google Adsense ads on the page(I need SOME money), unlimited bandwidth, unlimited file size and resolution. No registration for direct file upload. Registration if you want albums and such. The server will have 100% uptime(well it has been like that for a year and a half), and hopefully it won't be slow from processor usage, it has quad dualcore xeons at 2.8ghz. EDIT: I will also links as short as I can do for the no registration uploads, domain/i/<image>, but w/ registration it will be like domain/i/<username>/<if album if will go here>/<image name>
I dont post much, but I think this is worth it. Multiple image uploads. I can zip all my images up in a zip file, upload the zip, and all the images get unzipped and get uploaded. OR have it be like photobucket where you just click "add more images" and a couple more "browse" boxes pop up.
Hrmm, never thought about the zip idea, I will be sure to include that, I know how to make it work too, so that won't be so bad. Nice idea. Thanks
Some of the suggestions here are pretty touch to achieve, but the most basic one is having a a lot of folders, and maybe even subdirectories. So you could have Vacation dir with -Niagara Falls, -Toronto, -Detroit dirs inside. Also it would be really great if users could embed videos from youtube/google video in between photos.
