What do you guys think of opera? I downloaded it 5- 10 minutes ago and have fallen in love...figurativly... Any quirks i should know about?
EDIT: Things i have found I dont like but can live with:
    1. non- supporting of yahoo toolbar, which i like since i have yahoo mail for the moment. I can get over this since konfabulator has a widget that will check yahoo mail and tell me what i have new.
    2. No RSS...i dont think

I think Opera will quickly disappear. Firefox has taken over for the anti-Internet Explorer crowd.

I've Opera installed to check my sites, but tbh I can't be arsed to learn how to use it properly. The tabbing system doesn't seem as easy as Firefox and any speed advantages aren't obvious on my system.

Still, wouldn't do for everybody to fancy the same bird/car/browser... :hip:

What's wrong with FF with that setup, plenty of RAM, should have no problems...

    Onboard graphics?

I don't think Opera is bad by any means. I just think that it's slowly going the way of the buffalo.

Haha, Opera is going to be around for a while yet ;)

Opera is, as far as many are concerned, most who use it, the best browser. I've used IE for a few years, I've used firefox here and there occasionally, its ok. But its nothing special, its sole "thing" is extentions, which are usefull, but I choose Opera over the ability to use extentions because Opera has a better UI, and is considerably more configurable, and also does alot more for me.

The tabs are better, I can open links in new tabs with my middle mouse button(I can do anything I specifiy with my middle mouse button actually), I can close tabs with it, I can move tabs to any order I want to, so I can have one group of tabs on one side of my screen in a group, and another group on in another wee group.

I can save sessions, which is like a big bookmark with multiple pages, it remembers the page history for each one of them even, so you can save a session, come back to it and its just as if you hadn't left.

The UI is totaly configurable, considerably more so then with firefox. It also has my mail client built in, it can do IRC and usenet, should I wish it to, yet has a smaller footprint then IE or Firefox(of course, being Opera, you can specify how much RAM and disk cache it uses).

It's just by far the best browser for me, and for most people who like an efficient light weight browser that just lets you get on with doing things in the fastest and easiest way.

If you wanna PM me thats cool, I had some really neat bookmarks on good stuff for begginers to learn with Opera, but I lost 'em when my HDD died, however, I'll try to fish out some articles for you, and feel free to PM me if you wanna ask any questions :)

edit: http://opera.com/support/tutorials/ is really good for some great wee starters, and it'll encourage you to play around with the settings hopefully, which is a good idea :)

I have to bring this to the top and sing Opera's praise as it rocks! (yes Opera Rocks! )

I never like Firefox at all and with the little problems it has then it put me off even more. :worried:

There I was thinking yeah I'm okay with the evil that is IE - whats all this tabbed browsing nonsense anyhow -OMG TABS TABS TABS I need my TABS!

I like the wand, the integrated mail, the highlight and search function, did I mention the tabbed browsing?, oh and I even skinned it and I usually never bother with things like that, they way it can open on your last session and the trash function if you accidently close a window....... and on and on... :hip:

Still finding little things I like about it all the time and would urge those of you who have not given Opera a bit of a go then to do so.... no not the bloody theatre THE BROWSER! :thumb:

i find this post highly amusing becuase everything you just listed (bar the grouped tabs thing, which sounds interesting, pics! and irc/usenet) firefox can do without any extensions
why in gods name would you want to irc/usenet/e-mail from your browser i dunno
i like my browser to browse, my e-mail client to e-mail and my newsreader to newsread
firefox 1.5 was almost good enough for me to drop my tab extension, but it lacked scrolling through tabs and setting the title of unread tabs red

i have tried opera and it just really didnt work as nicely or as efficiently as firefox for me

I'm another that could never get to grips with Opera, tried it about three times and just didn't like it, I don't know exactly why, I just didn't.

I much prefer firefox with mouse gestures, and I also like my browser to be a browser, my IRC client to be an IRC client and so on.

    i *heart* opera!lol
downloaded it aaaaaaaaages ago, just to see what it was like after reading a review in a pc magazine, and it is amazingly easy to use!
the one thing i like about it is that it, by default, opens new links in new tabs IN THE SAME WINDOW, lol. and amazingly customizable too.
if you want the tabs along the bottom, you can have them there or anywhere else!
    opera kicks ass!

Actually, Opera was copying IE there :D

p.s. Actually, although I said that as a joke, since Opera is still closed source like IE, opera did go down a more similar route to IE then to FF.. :p

And since IE is what we're all moving away from...

    FF wins!

Seriously though, I find more sites load correctly in FF than Opera. The only ones I have trouble with are MSN content sites. They won't load video clips in FF. But that's by design, and a small price to pay to not have the worries and hassles of IE. I do still keep a copy of IE for testing and a few other minor things. But other than that, it's FF all the way. I figured FF was a great alternative when I installed it on both my parents' machines and they started using it on their own with no complaints. If they can do it, anyone can do it.
