Modding What does lapping mean and how is it done?

I have heard of lapping now and then but what is it and is it easy to do?

 

lapping is the process of trying to make the bottom of the HS as flat as possible, it is usally done with sand paper and a flat tile, also some HS are zinc plated over the copper etc which looks gd but isn't gd for the conductivity, it is possible to lap this surface to get to the real metal which will improve temps.
