little fishy action for my laptop ... still tweaking the gaming box a bit ..

i finally threw down the cash for the new version of object desktop .. and i absolutely LOVE desktopX2 ... sooooo much better than it ever was before.

p.s. : those fish swim. really. and the seaweed sways with the "current". very little processor usage ... my lappy's only a p3 1.13ghz with crappy s3 graphics and 256mb pc133 ... 32 of which is shared for graphics, and it runs as smooth as it does on my 2400+/512 pc2100/radeon 9600 pro box ...

theme is from www.wincustomize.com ... tweaked a little by me.

desktopx is wonderful, but doesnt really work unless its registered ... the demo version is barely a teaser. litestep is ok if you know what you are doing, but its not very forgiving if you make a mistake.

i use object desktop, currently have windowblinds, desktopx, icon packager, logon studio, object bar, object dock, and winstyles loaded. wincustomize.com has probably the largest skin library around. i know OD is expensive compared to all the free shell hacks around, but i know i can install a service pack without killing my kernel. and, plenty of support.

i finished my gaming box late last night, and ill get a screenshot up after my fiancee wakes up and i can boot that system up :)

Right click on your taskbar, there is an option called 'toolbars' - click it. At the bottom is another option called 'new toolbar', a window opens up asking for a folder - this is a folder which will contain the shortcuts to the programs, files, or folders you want displayed. I usually create a folder in my documents called 'toolbars' then for each toolbar I create another folder.

once you do this, the toolbar will be on your taskbar, drag it to the area you want (top, left, bottom, right - it will merge with your taskbar depending on where it is). You can also put toolbars inside toolbars.

also, there is an option when you right click on the toolbar - 'view', then 'large icons' is what I usually choose.

    -hope that helps ;)

new shots from the gaming box:

    :click:

    everything all hidden.

mbm, taskbar open on mouseover. desktopx menu works wonders, especially the desktop tab that lets me hide icons and not lose stuff.
text uptime display rocks. like the calendar, but cant be arsed to d/l rainlendar .. so desktopx does it :) same with weather ... i used to use weatherbug before it was all spyware. nice replacement.

here's my current setup - i just did a fresh install of WinXP and have customized much (and don't plan to do too much).

the two things i like the best are the winamp skin and the lil prog above it called SlickRun - makes running programs much easier. for example, i opened the bit forums in the pic by typing "bit" into the box. it can open websites or any program - pretty nice like tool imo...
