I am looking to get a dremel so i can do some needed case mods. looking on the internet i have spotted a Dremel 300 and a Dremel MultiPro Drill 395. my guess would be that the higher the number the better? Is that true.

just head on down to your local hardware store, they would be more than willing to set you up with a nice unit.

As far as I know, Dremel INSIDES have not changed in years. 100% of the difference between those models and the 200 is the fancy plastic casing.

I have a couple with the 2 speed switch - high and low - and a new one with the dial/knob thingy for speed control and I really like the control from the dial. Sometimes flat out is just too fast.

I have a little blue cordless that can really get into tight spaces for sanding. Lasts about 1/2 an hour if you don't push. Great for detail on polymer clay - don't try to cut a window or a rad hole. :wallbash:
Oh and Sciroco says to get a flexible shaft and leave it attached. Watch her work and you will see why. It's on my shopping list.
    My $0.02

The MultiPro 395 is no longer available from most places, unfortunately :(

Which one to get, depends on how much you're willing to spend, and how often you're likely to use it.
    Seldom/low budget? Just get a 300.
    Often/higher budget? The 400?
Granted... that 400 kit is expensive, but you do get quite a few very useful accessories with it... items which would cost you a lot more if you were to buy them separately
