ok i can't decide to get a zalman fatality gpu cooler or the series 5 from artic cooling for my 7800gt. any help? view? cheers :)
i am tempted by the looks of both, but the DHES is also verytempting with the artic cooling.

I'd say go with the arctic cooler, I've had nothing but good service from the 3 i've used, compared to the 7000 series cpu cooler i have whose performance has been somewhat underwhelming.

and the fatality version is a lot louder thatn the normal version... and you can leave a pci plate open and the zalman vill exhaust air aswell

I would go with the Arctic Cooling system... a DHES, good cooling and low noise levels are not to be argued with.

    watercool it!!!

@ 565MHz here... 31 degrees being spanked! More difficult I know, and not cheap... but well worth it, even if it's GPU alone.... but while you're at it.... :naughty:

EDIT: Typo.. sorry.. 41 being spanked.. 32 idle (actually 28 at the mo, but it's very cold in here).

hmmm... actually I'd say the other way around on tricky install... since on the arctic cooling coolers you need to make sure the big surfaces make perfect contact on the whole card on gpu and the ram

maybe looks... but it isn't... with the zalman you have all separate surfaces and just easy mounting... but the arctic coolings ones are a big pieces which has 5 points of contact (gpu and 4 ram chip) and to get all thos points to get good contact will be tricky... cus if you fail, then you can most likely kiss your graphics card good bye

Quite. The older silencers are ok, but the newer ones with the scaffolding stuck to the back are a PITA.

Can fit an "old" silencer in ~ 3 mins (use a modded mounting bracket) and the Zalman takes 5-10 just cos you need to tighten the bolts down evenly (again though using a modded mount) the stock mount on the Zalman looks a lot easier tho IMO

Totally. Rev2/3 VGA Silencers were (and still are, if you have a card they fit) amazing, the new ones just leave me cold. Much prefer the VF700.

yer well the latest one is the artic cooler 5 rev 3 , .... but how does it cool the memory on what would be the top of the card, i do remember with my x800xt that it was a great big plat on top as well as having the fan on the top, does the 7800gt even have memory both sides? im getting my self into a right pickle lol

but i do like the look of the zalman one tbh

Obviously the Zalman, its sponz0red by Fatal1ty, so its obviously going to pwn so much of everybodys ass. :worried:
    ahem

No, really, I would go for the Zalman, i think it is easier to install and looks way better IMO.

And its sponsored by Fatal1ty, durr

(i actually hate all the pointless sponsored hardware that Zalman have. "omg its exactly thr same as the stock one but costs more ")

You know Zalman, abit etc have to PAY for that sponsoring, insanity.

I was just about to say that it's zalman and abit who sponsor fatal1ty... and if you honor silence then stay away from the fatal1ty model and get the vf700 cu

Arctic cooler 5 rev 3. There's no ram on the back of the 7800 GT, so you won't have to worry about cooling it.

In my experience, the Arctic coolers are quieter than Zalman coolers.
