Ok, so I know I'm not going crazy here... I wanted to take a look at the cathode throbber stuff, located originally here: cathode throbber. Are these guides (and the older material like PWM fan controllers and such) still available somewhere, and can you post the archived content somewhere? In any case, you guys have a great site. Thanks.
http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=992890&postcount=7 In the meantime, stick the old link into the Wayback Machine, it usually has most of the content archived. The MIC502 chip used in the PWM fan controller is now scarce as hen's teeth, so maybe very low priority.
Some of the old stuff you're looking for is in the Modding Archive (start at the back) http://www.bit-tech.net/archive/modding/8 I haven't personally ported any articles in a while now - there is no longer any systematic porting of content pre-2005. You'll find the most popular stuff is here on the new site, but the really ancient stuff that nobody read any more isn't. If Archive.org doesn't meet your needs, let me know and I'm sure we can port across the one you're after.
Wow, I didn't even realize the modding archive was there. Thanks for pointing that out, and I can use the wayback machine to look at stuff at home (unfortunately for me, but good for the network, it's blocked at work). Thanks guys!
The Macro Case from 2001 has some good ideas still applicable - LED-lit knobs, EL string highlighting, fibre-optic slave lights... I had a bit of a struggle finding it, the original link from the Article Discussion thread has been re-used. Though to be fair, nobody has added to the thread in the last 3 years. I must be getting old. It were all fields round here when I were a lad... I remember a guy called Koolvin... bigz were ony little...
