I just received a 32gb mp3 player, I am in progress filling it with educational audio courses, audio books, and of course music.

Has any one got any recommendations?

Myself, I am looking for stuff that will inspire me and also educate, any audio book biographys?

    My list:

    Michel Thomas Mandarin, Japanese 2gb.
Possible flash cards for Chinese text.
Money and personal improvement courses 6gb.
    Verbal Advantage business edition 1.2Gb.
    Custom PC Bit Tech Podcasts.
    Barry white discography 2gb.

*Strong recommendation - Robert Greene The 33 Strategies Of war, talks about napoleon a bit and other amzing stuff, truely a great audio book, top three material and I am very picky,Robert Greene also has other audio books which are intresting, rules of power etc.

    Look forward to your ideas.

    For audiobooks:

    • If you're into Terry Pratchett, any of his books as narrated by Stephen Briggs - I've got "Thud","Going Postal", "The Wee Free Men" and "Hat Full Of Sky" ATM and am looking to expand the collection.
    • The Harry Potter audiobooks - if you're into that sort of thing. I'm not a major fan of Stephen Fry, but he was a good pick for narration duties.
    • Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy - I only bother with the 'original' radio series. The later ones didn't really do it for me.
    • I'm also a fan of things like "The Goon Show" and "Hancock's Half Hour" so I usually have a couple of episodes of each on the iPod.

As for tunage, I don't bother with full discographies and generally let iTunes pick something at random. The current artist list includes:

    • Slayer
    • Metallica
    • Anthrax (forgot what a kick-ass album "Spreading The Disease" was)
    • Devildriver
    • Motorhead
    • Wolfram Spyra (well worth checking out if you like ambient electronica)
    • Loop
    • Blitz
    • Ned's Atomic Dustbin
    • Black Sabbath (stuff from the first four albums)
    • Beck
    • Orbital
    • Leftfield
... and probably a stack of other stuff too.

[EDIT: forgot you mentioned biographies: I've got Murray Walker's biography on MiniDisc and it's very good. Narrated by the man himself, of course.]

I could put 2600 off the hook shows on there, any one old school enough to know of 2600

Great recommendations so far, if star wars eps 7 was in audio book that would go on there.

Get some animaniacs on there for the train/ bus journeys if it's an mp3 and mp4 player. My iPhone always has a few of those on it :thumb:

Other than that, The CPC Podcast is a good idea, and I can't think of any others off the top of my head. I try and listen to all the Radio 1 Podcasts each week, especially the Moyles one.

Mine always has a couple of the "Big Finish" Dr Who adventures (These are "radio play" type, not audiobook, and star the original Doctors from Peter Davidson to Paul McGann, often with the correct Companion).

I sometimes wheel out the "Blakes 7" audio plays that were on Radio 4 a bit back - "The Sevenfold Crown" and "The Syndeton Experiment", if memory serves. Both are pretty good, but don't contain many of the original cast unfortunately.

All this has got me thinking about educational audiobooks though - anyone got any suggestions for a 'refresher' type audiobook for beginning/intermediate German? Hoping to go over there early next year and now seems like a good time to get back up to speed (suggestions for something similar for intermediate French would be good too)
