    Hi,
Just after some figures about how much an hour you guys reckon a 15yr old IT technician should be getting!
Part time, so no year salary thing.
General jobs, sorting out PC's, loading windows/ rebuilding broke ones etc.
What kinda figure £ per hour would be respectable?

Over here, a PC Tech with experience (and A+) would usually start at $15/hour... If I were to hire a 15 year old to do similar work with no work experience or accreditations(sp?) I'd probably start them out at $9 or so.

Of course this probably in no way influences the situation over there, this info is "enrichment" :)

    A pittance probably!

Do what I did instead, start up on your own repairing/upgrading computers in people's homes. It's far more lucrative, and you can charge seemingly extortionate prices and STILL be cheaper than the other rip off merchants.

If you provide a good service then you will get recommended (handing out cards helps), and the money will start rolling in. If you think you're too young, I started out at the age of 13 and sure, people were a bit wary, but once they had seen me in action they had no complaints.

$15? I wish. I work at a community college and get $7 (started at $6.50). It's not that bad but it ain't $15 either.

    heh, unfortunately, no.

No matter how much you know, if you are young you will get shafted on wages. period.

You can either age rapidly (like me :) ) or try to work for yourself (which is more difficult, but entirely possible)

I've said before, and will say again "It aint what you know, it's who you know" do you have any buddies, friends of the family, family members who can assst you in finding a relevent job? If so, go for it. The more actual work experience you get, the more you have to put on your resume (CV) and the more references you get from the business community the more money you make. It's pretty simple. I wish I had started as young as you, I'd be making more money than I do now.

Just get stuck in. Do something, work hard, listen up and learn as much as you can. You're not going to make a ton of money in the short run, but each job change and promotion is a step up the ladder.

welcome to the real world :)

Oh, and ANYONE should be able to make more than $10 an hour DEFINITELY as a skilled tech. Unless you're a kid. I was making $10 an hour answering phones for a bank when I was 20 and single :) All PC tech jobs (retail tech) here in North Dallas start at about $12-14 an hour, depending on experience. Corporate IT tends to pay more, depending on the job and the industry.

essjaytee- Where is PC Tech located btw?

On topic I would suggest at least some sort of certification to prevent wariness.

Well.... The lowest wage available where I work for a teccie is £9k, which is probably what a 15year old would start on, but it does go up to £19k, then you become manager etc... however what is much more lucerative is Stratergies, that's what I'm trying for next week, starting... minimum for that job is £18k

I live in McKinney and work in Frisco :)

The big red metal-roofed building on 720, that'd be where I am right now :)

I wasn't referring to any particular job or company (for many reasons) but a general guideline for that role in a variety of different industries.
