OK so we all know that during christmas time lots of people drink lots of alcohol.
What does everybody think of underage drinking, the laws etc.

IMO it's OK, as long as there not drinking too much, too often. I think it's too young at about 12.
EDIT:I feel 16 is the age at which drinking "out" is ok imo
age 12 I was referring to is under supervision.
Im lucky to have parents who have allowed me to drink at home, so I know my limits, and so they were there the first time I was passed-out, throwing-up drunk.

Also, what is everybody's opinion on illegal drugs, especially pot? Having been to a lot of parties recently with people smoking pot there I would be interested to hear people's opinions.

TBH... Unless you're a chavtastic tosser in burberry.. most people don't really have an intrest in drinking under 15... which is around the age most people look old enough or at least have the mental capacity to not be a wozzock...

Drugs... well... meh.. I'm grovy with pretty much anything as long as it don't involve spiking ya arm... IV drugs are baaaaad m'kay..

    Pretty much anything else goes...

I'm not sure how long this thread will last... but:

I don't care what anyone else does with their lives... so long as they are not endangering innocent people (IE drinking and driving). It's your life, if you want to destroy your body, go for it. I want to go skydiving, my chute might not open, tough ****, I made the choice I'll face the consequences...

However, I don't drink. I have, but never again will you find me with a drink in my hands. Why? Because I watched the people around me who were drinking/smoking... I realized when I was young that I didn't want to do that. And I realized in HS that I really had no reason to be around drugs/alcohol at all. If my friends want to screw their lives over, I will ask them to hear me out, but if they don't that's their choice. Fortunately my close friends have similar views to mine, but I do sometimes fear for the future of the few who don't care what happens...
    **** happens.

I feel the same way about endangering people's lives.

I see no reason why this thread should be closed as it is not advocating the use of drugs/alcohol, it is merely discussing the bad points of them, and people's opinions.

From my own experience, most people seem to start bothering landlords by the age of 12 or 13...Infact, I was regularly drinking with my mates (couple of times a week) by the age of 14.

With alcohol, as with drugs, and almost everything in life, my view is simple: nobody has any authority to speak on a subject if they have no experience of it. Much as you would take little stock of someone preaching on the subject of Linux when they have only ever used Windows 95,

Well, i'm 17 and have just got back from a night on the town. Personally I think 18 is about the right age. If you can get away with it when you are younger then fair enough. If not, then you have to respect the law and just drink at home.

Law says you can drink it from 5! have it serverd with a meal from 16 and buy it at 18.

I think 16-17 is about the ok age to start drinking but I have seen some rediculously young people drinking (10! or younger).

I knew I should have talked my Dad into staying in Germany when I was born (though he was in the Air Force and I was only 6 months old when we moved). This one of the biggest things wrong with America, you can join the Military, go and get killed in some foregin country, but you still would not have had a drink (legally). ********. You can sell it at 18 years old (as a bar-tender or at a grocery store) but you can not drink it. What a joke. :grr:

I'll just copy the blurb off one of my profile pages...

I'm open mindedly anti-drugs (minus alcohol, oh how hypocritcal!). Lol, I personally find it sad some people rely on them to have a good time, but don't judge them for it. Your body, your mind, your choice, your ****ed up head and empty bank balance.

Experience: I've never done drugs, of any kind minus alcohol. I realise lots of people see this as 'hypocritical' but tbh I don't drink that much and when I compare the effect alcohol has on my friends vs. weed, speed, 'shrooms and god knows what else I prefer it greatly.
I have friends who are quite blatantly addicted to drugs, they never have any money and always trying to borrow some of other people for drugs. They're absolute arseholes when on drugs and to be frank, I hate to be judgemental but I really had had enough when two friends were doing lines of speed in a kiddies playpark at 3pm in the afternoon, broad daylight.

Fair enough, I understand it can numb pains and help people not have to deal with things. But I think there are other methods more suitable for both your head and finances.

but you must also remember, that having experience of drugs does not actually mean doing them.
basically, drugs alcohol fags and all things like that are bad. they harm your body in some way. im the same as emzay. Ive never done drugs, (ive seen the worst side of them and never want to have anything to do with them) but i drink alcohol. I like it but im not out every night getting completely wrecked. I know my limits and im not dependant on it.
As for age on drinking, my parents have let me have a drink with meals for as long as i can remember. But when i get 14 or 15 year olds coming up to me asking me buy them drinks, i just think they shouldnt be getting drunk at their age. They are just getting drunk for the sake of it. by the time you are 18 you are heopfully sensible enough to enjoy alcohol socially, and not just because you want to get so drunk you pass out.

Under 14 its a nono, atleast it is when you catch your 12year old sister doing it

At 14 Yeh go get drunk. It wont do you any harm and will give you that 'hey im a rebel' feeling

At 16 i cant see any problem with it. Your still not suppose to be doing it so it still semes like it makes you look kool

By 18 you aint breaking the rules anymore will have relised drinking isnt its all cracked up to be and will end up a normal person anyway

But serously underage drinking is part of growing up. If your intelligent you will relise pretty quick its not that good and go back to being a normal kid.

By 18 you've some money to spend and really get into drinking. The 'normal person' bit comes after you have kids.

You sound like a wife. :worried:

I stopped doing anything at the age of 16 for two years...nowadays, I rarely drink and haven't taken anything of an illegal nature in over a year...and, to be honest, my creative side is feeling the effect.

From my point of view, people can do what the hell they like, I know that drugs can do bad things to us but I also know that they can do great things for us, that they can be a positive influence in an individuals life and that we all have benifited at some point by them...

Uh well I go to a chain of schools owned by an English Schools Foundatoin which has alot of international schools in Hong KOng and obviously since they charge so much for school fees you can assume most poeple are pretty ****ing rich, I mean my friend is getting a 8million pound house in the peak with a helicopter pad   (and no having a rich friend doesn't mean I'm rich too :( haha lol)

You can assume everyone has enough money to do whatever the hell they want to, hash, alcohol whatever, can't get into a club ? get a really good looking fake ID, can't get hash yourself ? ask someone to get it, buy it whatever...

However I do like to drink quite a bit but I've only been slightly drunk once, never passed out and don't really intend to either...

I guess some poeple just drink and smoke alot and it gets into a habit because they have nothing to do sometimes and just you know have some spare beer just drink it up or something ...

For me, I don't really mind what others do. I know how much drink I can handle before losing the use of my limbs, but I don't feel the need to drink that much. My parents were always fairly easy going, letting me have a shandy one year, then a beer, etc. So I guess 13-ish is OK, as long as it's not a big thing in your life.

As for drugs - IMO a little hash never hurt anyone, but I'm suspicous of anything stronger than that.

Disclaimer: I drink when I fancy a pint, and I don't smoke (anything).
