    I use McAfee Viruscan.

Not had any problems with viruses since Ive been using it. Nicely intergrates with SP2 and bitches when its been shutdown/definitions out of date.

I use Avast (www.avast.com) it katches alot of stuff Norton lets through and is way less memory intensive. Its free but you do have to register it every 14 months or so.

No matter what AV program you use you should get a second opinion periodically. We know that running two AV programs is a bad plan so I suggest and use Trendmicro's Housecall - its an online AV scanner that works with IE. Works great, fairly quick and is also free........give it a shot.
